[00:00] This is Twitcraft Town Hall for Saturday, January 12th [00:05] 2013 [00:06] So this is our [00:21] Second Twitcraft Town Hall for Saturday, January 12th 2013 [00:25] We have in the channel right now [00:28] Abigail we have Andrew and blender FM [00:33] Sorry blender MF Cheeto Dio goob high jammer KJ mr. The boss [00:39] Night Flyer, Team and Five, Post Anonymous, Robrow the Ram, if I said that right, we have [00:47] Thurtin77, TSC and Sam, T-White Cell, and Vontace, and myself, silly chicken. [00:56] So, ow, already hurting myself. [01:01] So the first thing I kind of want to bring up is our Twitcraft Museum. [01:05] I kind of will hand this off to Vante so you can tell you guys a little bit more about it. [01:09] Yeah, so the Twitcraft Museum is just a project I've been working on. [01:13] And the whole point of it is to recognize and acknowledge Twitcraft players. [01:19] It's not a museum about technology or Twitter or anything. [01:23] It's just to, like I said, recognize and acknowledge some of our crazy builders like Legata. [01:32] So the point is like if you come to spawn like a new player and he's probably not gonna go see Lega does castle [01:38] I've asked like it at a build little exhibit and so when you go and you see it you check it out [01:43] You're like wow, this is cool. So [01:45] We'll have directions to is a castle if you want to see more of it [01:49] And it's kind of inspire people to like build cool stuff [01:53] And like I said just acknowledge there are really good players [01:57] So I mean it's basically a celebration of the twitcraft community [02:02] I hadn't seen like you know many community stuff went to a craft so that's all it is and [02:08] We are building it right now, and if you're interested in like donating time or materials [02:15] You know PM me in chat or in game. I mean if you want to donate anything [02:20] I know Dio donated like three and a half stacks of iron. Thanks to you. There's gonna be like a [02:25] Benefactor's hall so you have your name on there and everything and there's also gonna be like kind of like twit [02:30] a brick wall so if you want to donate like 50 coins or something so I could [02:37] buy material because there's a lot of material in there let me know I'll do a [02:41] forum post in the coming a couple days so yeah that's the Tokyo Craft Museum and [02:46] hopefully be up and running in a couple weeks. So our next thing on so I kind of [02:54] wanted to explain to you guys that are listening to this after we've recorded [02:59] this new format going, this is probably going to be going forward, so we're going to be [03:05] doing our community projects, so people explain what they're doing in our community that are [03:10] major, and then we're going to have our events, and then towards the end we will have our [03:14] discussion topics like you heard last time. So we're trying to get this a little more [03:18] organized and a little more put together so it's not as just rambling. So I guess we're [03:23] going to move to Poster Anonymous and we're going to talk about the Aquadome. [03:26] Do I approach the podium? [03:31] It's up to you. [03:37] Hey guys, just a quick update right now. [03:40] We've got a forum post about the Aqua Dome. [03:43] The idea is to have a place where we can do spleeping, you know, large-scale spleef contests, [03:51] larger parkour tournaments, maybe even a little bit of pig racing to kind of tie in with the other courses that we have around Twitcraft. [04:01] We right now have almost the entire ocean reclaimed over a little bit east and [04:09] north of Leoville. Basically if you get on the highway, the east highway, and take [04:15] it out you'll see off to the side in the ocean a large underwater box and you can [04:22] use the lift signs to get down into it. And the general idea for now is we need [04:28] to finish reclaiming the outline that's already on the ocean floor so that we can start building [04:36] inside and we're going to lower the entire floor down to Y equals 20. And then once we [04:43] do that, we have a stadium design that we are going to build from there. If you guys want [04:48] to donate sandstone, that seems to be the main material we're going to be using. We'd [04:55] appreciate it you can just dump it in one of the chests inside of the dry dock [04:59] if you want to actually donate some time and fill in some motion or dig some [05:04] floor then we'll appreciate that too just swing on by and let us know and we'll [05:09] start working with you thanks guys. [05:11] Thanks for kind of gonna move on to a little [05:15] DOT update from Robrow the RAM. Just take it away. [05:22] Hey, so since December's update, a lot of complaints you could say about the state of DOTS and the transport issues. [05:33] So the main, and what's going to happen, and it's been done at the moment, is [05:39] rebuilding four hubs about 2,000 blocks away from spawn. We've done the north [05:46] and western hubs are up and running and we've also connected the line to [05:53] La Trita's castle. So those are up and running and still got to work on the [05:59] Eastern and South hubs and connect any lines up. So from these hubs you can [06:05] connect lines out to your various projects things like that. There's also [06:12] been done is a circle line from which are a line that basically goes around [06:18] roughly the edge of spawn to various locations. You're familiar with Flea [06:23] Market, the Trip Museum, Sky5 and a few other places they forgot from my head. [06:33] We've also since December overhauled multiple stations such as [06:40] Javelins Castle Station and the Seaside Village stations also had a massive [06:47] update and now has somewhere where you can actually board and off-board trains. [06:53] After that's done I'm also then that setup above the Grand Central Station. [07:00] Station is going to be a like information point where you first going [07:05] to be at science telling you which hub you should go to for the next line. [07:10] Whichever place you want to go to each hub so to be easier navigation around [07:15] I've got a few members now a part of Dot Samuel Professor and Kaye Hammo or something similar [07:25] to that. [07:26] I've also forgotten it. [07:29] And there's Chicken also I think you're still doing some sign maintenance I don't know. [07:36] So really if anyone else seems to want to volunteer their time I need someone to maintain [07:42] the roads and just check that all the loads are up to scratch. [07:45] Got a few people on doing whale and mainly just donate supplies and money essentially for buying [07:53] supplies. We basically eat through iron as fast as you can basically supply it and I've been [07:59] basically either buying or buying it myself. So that's the state of thought. [08:06] So I don't know if we should skip this but I guess I can mention it this past month we had a [08:11] little parkour tournament. I wasn't heavily involved with it. It was more [08:15] vantes and poster anonymous. We're more involved with it. I don't know if you [08:21] guys wanted to kind of share what happened or we could just move on to [08:25] discussion topics. I'll just say something quick about it. It was just a little [08:30] you know community tournament we had and it was kind of a little success I [08:34] think and there were prizes and stuff and it was just fun and I like to do [08:39] more of it maybe you know every other month we'll set up a new course and if [08:44] you want to build a new course on your land or something you can hold the [08:47] event there or win posters on you know call of seam is done we could definitely [08:52] have events there so I just would like to have more of those and you know [08:57] again if you're interested let me know or crazy racer yeah we could set it up [09:03] again so I guess we're gonna start our discussion topics first one on the [09:13] board is the 1.46 update. I will let you guys kind of go at it. I'll kind of monitor it. [09:21] Make sure you guys don't go too off track, but I guess I'll just let you guys take it [09:26] away. Cute Jeopardy-thim. Pretty much. Okay, glad again. You guys ready to talk about 1.4 [09:51] .6 update? I have no complaints over it. It seems to be fine. So far I haven't encountered [09:58] encountered any issues either really. [10:00] It's never brick house slubs. [10:02] Yay, just the portals. [10:05] I second that. [10:06] Oh yeah, the portals. [10:10] Yep. [10:13] Fireworks. [10:18] Actually that is one thing with fireworks. [10:19] I'm trying to when we're building this call the aqua dome the Coliseum. [10:25] I'm trying to make it so that the floor can actually be cleared out and a player can [10:31] go all the way down to bedrock and set up a fireworks display and launch it and it will [10:37] actually go up and explode right in the spectator area in the actual coliseum. [10:44] So I'd like the fireworks and if people want to plan for fireworks shows in the future, [10:50] I'm all for it. [10:51] Just let me know. [10:52] Yeah, I sell dyes but I can also provide them for the Aquadome staff as a start too. [10:58] Yeah, we'll have to work that out, and that's actually something I probably should have brought up. [11:02] Once the Aqua Dome is actually completed, we'll have to work out how we're going to handle it, [11:08] but we will make it so that other players, even if they're not here right now and they're listening to this in the future, [11:15] can actually plan out events and have functions inside the Aqua Dome without having to go through a big rigmarole [11:23] only have one person who was involved in the actual construction to begin with being there. [11:34] So um, I guess you guys noticed any critical bugs or are we just kind of still having some [11:41] leftovers from 145? Well, I'm sorry go ahead. I was just gonna say just the nether portal thing. [11:53] I wasn't sure if that was 146 thing or 145 thing but it's definitely still happening. [11:58] And from what rage I guess it's not in here he discovered that if you [12:04] Get in one side of a portal block it changes from if you're on the other side of a portal block [12:10] So some of his nether portals he's blocked it off [12:13] So if you put in one it takes you where you want to go and the other one will spawn one [12:17] Wherever and it's usually in the way so so it prevents random portals from being you know spawned all the time like we've been [12:26] We've seen them leave it [12:28] That's what he's fixed right [12:31] Yeah, so if you see one where it's blocked off on one side [12:33] It's better to go all the way in and stay in that one block. Otherwise, it'll spawn a random portal [12:39] So I guess you guys have any more things to say on the one four six update. Are you guys pretty much done? [12:49] Okay, I guess we'll move on to item frames [12:55] I know Vonta's has been doing a lot of testing with item frames and he's kind of discovered some crazy things that they do [13:01] Well, I mean, it's not [13:03] Testing is just they count as entities and like we all know a lot of entities near spawn [13:09] Isn't very good for [13:11] client side lag for people with with the lower end hardware like me, so [13:17] All I'm asking is if you know to prevent curly from removing [13:22] Item frames from to a graph was kind of avoid placing lots of them near spawn [13:26] I know the mirages, you know bandum in those shops. So [13:31] So, you know, I think really call it a gentleman's agreement. [13:34] Try not to place a lot of item frames and we'll still have item frames and just don't [13:40] abuse them is what I'm saying. [13:45] Does anyone else got any thoughts or opinions on this? [13:47] Yeah, item frames are entities. [13:49] Just keep that in mind. [13:51] So if you place lots of them that does create load on the server. [13:55] Also, there's certain... [13:57] Sorry, I just want to say item frame, as a reminder, item frames aren't properly tracked [14:02] by log block so I would encourage you not to put valuables in them because they're not [14:10] easy to get back. [14:12] Silly knows how many stores are in their mirage but if everyone in the mirage had five item [14:17] frames that's a lot of item frames. [14:21] Basically the same mindset as with animals, sheep and everything else you don't want a [14:25] lot of them in the same chunk please. [14:27] So yeah for those who are listening to this after the fact yeah we're just kind of a [14:36] general consensus just kind of use item frames sparsely so don't go crazy don't [14:43] under use them but don't overuse them just kind of use them with consideration [14:49] so I guess I kind of wanted to bring this one up to the table but multiple [14:54] chat channels in Twitcraft specifically I just kind of would like this [14:58] just so we can kind of you know filter chat from just global and then I know we [15:05] We already have some other chat channels like for Diamond Club and whatever chat realm. [15:13] But I'm just wondering if there could be a possibility that more, I guess, mature players [15:22] or something on that lines or daily players or you know what I mean. [15:31] So maybe like a kids room and an adults room or something. [15:35] So to clarify, are you talking about mumble or an in-game chat? [15:38] This is in-game chat. [15:39] Oh, okay. [15:40] I thought you were talking about Mumble. [15:42] I would second for Mumble as well. [15:44] Yeah, Mumble like put a thing in the forum to kind of to keep everything separated out. [15:50] Yeah, I agree. [15:52] I would like to have separate channels for the in-game chat, but also yes, the Mumble [15:58] would be the big thing. [16:00] But back to game, I could see how that could be a very big advantage for if you have a [16:03] group of people that are building something, because this happens a lot, especially with [16:06] the things around Hyrule. If there are more than one person trying to talk to each other, [16:11] they can't private message. So they'll end up talking in global chat about a topic that [16:17] only three people really need to know about. So it kind of, it's not really spamming, but [16:21] it kind of gets annoying for people that are just working on their own stuff, and there [16:24] are a bunch of messages that have nothing to do with anything but like two people. So [16:28] if we could have maybe the ability to create our own rooms that are private that you'd [16:33] invite people to maybe so you could just keep the spamming of the global chat to a minimum [16:41] while still being able to have private messages with more than one person. [16:46] I think at some point that was actually meant to be possible but I think we found that there [16:52] was something messed up with permissions about it. So yeah I can talk to Curly and I think [16:57] that can happen. [16:59] Awesome. [17:01] just a specific builder chat because we let people start building their own channels that [17:05] can get really crazy really fast. But if it's private and only certain people can see it then [17:12] it wouldn't be too bothersome I would think. Yeah as long as there's not a blog of 200 unused [17:19] channels at some point that's all. Well I think Eurochat has an option it might be an addition to [17:25] here a chat that allows a channel that if it hasn't been used in n hours it vanishes. [17:31] That sounds like it works I just don't want there to be a logs crap that no one's using on the [17:35] the chat server. So you guys have any more thoughts or? Sounds like a good idea. And [17:51] here's Sukan. Oh wait, I think I know Rage is chilling in another room. I think he's [18:00] AFK, but flea market chunk regen kind of just wanted to bring this up. I know Rage is talking [18:06] to iPod possibly about redoing this. I don't know much about the situation, so yeah. I [18:16] and say things about it because I've actually downloaded the entire flea market and done [18:20] some tests on a local server. [18:23] But I've tried rejitting the chunk. [18:26] I've taken just the flea market and then put it in a flat land. [18:30] So there's nothing there but the flea market and it still has the FPS lag just the same [18:36] as it is there. [18:38] So I really don't think it's a chunk or a lighting issue. [18:41] just the fact that there's 2500 chests there and over a thousand signs and it's not just [18:48] the flea market, it's the buildings around it too. [18:56] So I think reaching the trunk is going to do anything. [18:59] It can be tried if you guys want to. [19:02] In my tests what I found was pretty much taking the entire layer of the top of the [19:10] flea market off just deleting those chests from up top and then removing all [19:17] the old shops that were abandoned for two plus months and I saw about a at [19:23] least 10 to 15 frames per second increase so I'm gonna make a forum post [19:28] about it I just haven't got around to doing it. [19:30] One pretty good of the unused shops that are on the second floor those chests have been [19:35] cleared out I'm not sure if it was just rage going through with an axe or if it [19:38] was a mod doing with world edit and I've heard people saying that iPod also went [19:44] through and deleted all the chests and deleted that area and even that chunk [19:48] still created lag so it really just needs to be dealt with in a day of a lot [19:54] of testing with a mod and figuring out what's up. I wish iPod were here with I [19:59] believe from previous discussion he actually downloaded the map and [20:06] Reverted the entire chunk back to its original, you know as generated state [20:11] And still had the lag issue [20:13] So it may just be a combination of the chunk and the and the flea market itself [20:21] what he was saying is original spawn is right pretty much in the middle of the [20:26] of the flea market [20:28] And it's a glitch in the fact that this map was generated on [20:33] What is it 1.2 point 3 minecraft? I'm not mistaken. Anyway [20:37] The fact that it was generated on a previous version and the fact that original spawn was basically right in the middle of where the flea market is, contributes to the issue. [20:50] Sounds like it's artifacting and not under chests in the area. [20:54] Out of curiosity, when was the flea market itself built on Mach-Hunk? [21:02] Early on, probably about March time? [21:08] No, the server went public in April and the flea market went up I think in May or June. [21:13] Yeah, that sounds about right. [21:16] So it might still have some of those old artifacts in the actual flea market itself and in the area below it. [21:22] So you guys have any more thoughts on this or are we ready to kind of move on to the next thing? [21:35] Okay, I guess we'll move on to the next thing. [21:40] Community activities, kind of, I know we want to do more. [21:45] Kind of like the parkour tournament that we did earlier on. [21:48] on. I know the Aquadome is probably going to be helping with getting more community activities, [21:54] getting into place. I don't know, you guys can kind of discuss on kind of what you guys want to see [22:02] in community activities and we can probably come together as a community and get them arranged. [22:07] Well, I know that Boob, I don't know if he's been discussing it a lot in the message forum, [22:13] but he's actually working on a fairly large pig racing track and [22:18] It's pretty cool goob. Did you want to say something about it? [22:22] Yeah, I've been working on it and it's actually done now [22:26] It's been kind of just fine deep polishing it up now, but I'm ready to host whenever [22:33] Anybody's ready and I think we're having some susses with the gambling and we're just doing that at the [22:40] place, but now we're going to try and move it to the Aqua Dome. So I guess we're just [22:46] still working on that and trying to get that finished. [22:48] Well, I also had a couple other ideas. Like we could start a lottery and use a random [22:54] number generator from anywhere online really. And just little things to get players to actually [23:01] come back on a regular basis. And I think that if you had that mixed in with doing [23:09] the pig races, doing parkour, doing spleef or whatever on a regular basis, I think you [23:16] could get a steady following of people. [23:21] Also with the Hunger Games server backrunning, we could start having a Hunger Games tournament. [23:25] Again, I got the impression that it's open for anyone to jump in, jump out whenever they [23:32] want to and just have an ad hoc game. [23:36] Subjects of Hunger Games, could there be a possibility to put PvP in just the area of [23:42] the region of the Aquedome, if say an event would be just like a PvP event. [23:49] Preferably something that could be turned on and off by the event. [23:53] Exactly. [23:54] Um, maybe... [23:59] That's a good question. [24:03] Dynamically changing PvP flags in a region probably wouldn't be too easy, but I think [24:11] being able to turn it on in that particular region is doable. [24:14] Well, if I may, the way World Guard handles PvP, there's about three different ways it [24:19] can happen. [24:20] I think the way that it's set up on this server is in the configuration of World Guard. [24:24] It says no PvP. [24:26] But World Guard itself can have regions, and the regions can have a fight called PvP. [24:31] There's been discussion, completely outside of Town Hall, of creating a user, you know, [24:36] somebody just making an alt account specifically for the mansion of the Aquadome to hold [24:40] bets and everything and he could also be given permission to use that flag and own the region [24:46] involved. [24:47] That means it's like an adventure map. [24:51] Yeah because there's a permission um worldguard.region.flag.use.pvp will allow someone to set the pvp flag [25:02] on a region that they can set flags to. [25:06] uh... [25:08] yeah i'm not sure i was at the top [25:10] but yeah it's definitely doable so [25:14] yet we actually did create a character that's harkening back to what we're [25:18] talking about with the awkward dome [25:19] that character would be managed by more than one player basically a committee [25:25] that would be running the awkward ohm [25:26] and we would have to make it [25:28] very clear from the get-go fat players started going around setting pvp zones [25:33] in other areas [25:34] that they would [25:36] Immediately be busted basically and you know banned from the server all that because I I don't want people exploiting that [25:43] Yeah, right the way that the way the permissions handle is a user can't set fights on any region that he or she does not own [25:49] so if we gave this commissioner person the ownership of the region that the [25:55] That the aqua dome is in here. She would be able to set all these flags and clear them [26:02] But but members of that region, you know [26:05] They'll be able they'd be able to build there but they the way world guards permissions are work are worked [26:10] World Guard flights and be set to give the permission to owners members or to everyone or to no one [26:16] One ideas to give you the circle of the people taking care of the aqua dome who also handle the float [26:21] Which probably could be managed by the same account. Yeah, that would be fine. Okay, so you guys have any more [26:34] suggestion about community activities, I know this kind of [26:37] went to PvP but [26:39] discussion but you guys have anything else more to say sure how about setting [26:46] up like schedule so the events don't necessarily conflict with each other or [26:50] they're not too close to each other so much it's good yeah yeah exactly or you [27:01] know have an event committee or whatever that you know organizes with the people [27:05] who run the other separate events yeah I'm sure we could add up like an [27:10] events vary in the forums to keep track of all that. [27:17] Yeah definitely the twitcraft Twitter would be a good way to communicate that [27:24] as well. Yeah we could even set a Google calendar for you know twitcraft it's [27:31] kind of simple make it a community thing people can add on to it. Yeah people any [27:38] of us could tweet the twitcraft server and then it'll retweet it to everyone [27:41] who's listening to it about an event. [27:45] Yeah, that would definitely work. [27:49] Let's get the big bucks. [27:51] I think your calendar would be better than, you know, Twitter. [27:55] Well, in combination, I think would be best. [27:58] Yeah, because whoever's managing the calendar just follows that Twitter. [28:06] I don't think you need to follow in a tweet at them. [28:09] You don't know. [28:11] No, you don't. [28:11] But I mean, whoever's managing the calendar, you know, the calendar that we set up needs to know [28:17] when things are being scheduled. [28:18] Otherwise they don't get on the calendar. [28:20] Yeah, there could be a Twitter, [28:21] but there could be a bunch of us that are throwing stuff [28:23] and discussing what goes on the calendar. [28:25] And then one person tweets it. [28:28] Can't you make it a community calendar [28:30] or anyone can add onto it? [28:33] Well, we don't want just anyone to be able to add onto it [28:35] because then we'll have, you know, good things. [28:37] That's more like what the form is for. [28:39] The calendar's more for the official events [28:41] so we know what we actually need to tweet to Twitcraft. [28:45] Well, that makes sense. [28:47] I mean, anybody can tweet at Twitcraft. It's not like a restricted thing. Anybody with a Twitter can just tweet us. [28:57] Clearly we have to retweet it or whoever is in control of that account. I think it's currently. [29:01] It's pretty much all of us. [29:03] Okay, then maybe like we do it with some sort of hashtag and then you guys look over it and if it seems good enough you just retweet it for everyone. [29:10] Sure. [29:11] So maybe you guys like the hashtag twitcraft event or something. [29:16] We can come up with something simple that would work. [29:19] Twit vent. [29:20] Yeah, but then you're not talking about the craft. [29:26] Yeah, good point. [29:28] So, not TC-ed? [29:30] Yeah, it would work. [29:32] There you go. [29:33] We'd also have to take a look at Twitter just to see if anybody else is using the same hashtag too, just in case. [29:45] Give me a moment. [29:46] So while he's doing that, do you guys have anything else to say? [29:59] There's only one post on it. [30:00] And the posts that are come up with results for that actually don't use that hashtag in the post. [30:21] Once promoted and... oh yeah there's one that does, the other one's promoted, I'm blind. [30:31] Okay, I guess, hold on, let me bring back up the Google Doc. [30:35] It wouldn't really matter if we're using it, it would just be as long as... [30:38] So the person that whoever's looking on the Twitcraft account is able to realize that, yeah, we should retweet this because this is the event. [30:44] No one's going to be searching through the hashtags to find it. [30:48] It would just be, it would have to have the mention that twitcraft in it and it would [30:50] also have to have the hashtag. [30:58] So I guess, um, you guys have anything else? [31:01] TC EV and T's free. [31:04] Has got no posts on it. [31:07] So I guess I think we'll save this for later guys. [31:09] I don't want to kind of bore people that are listening to this, but I guess we'll [31:13] move on to Montes. [31:14] Do you want to talk about Sandy blocks or do you just want to skip it? [31:18] Yeah, we could skip it. [31:19] I mean, I talked about it last time. [31:21] Alright, so the famous topic we've all just [31:26] Love to talk about is Leoville lots. So I guess I kind of have given five take it away [31:32] No, you don't even gonna say anything. I'm just gonna let you guys speculate about everything this time around [31:36] Oh [31:37] on that note I have I [31:40] Don't know if I mentioned this to you Damon. I think I mentioned it to iPod that I finished a plug-in [31:46] that is capable of selling at once and I was trying to get Kelly and the Mod Squad to come [31:52] on the test over and try to break it. [31:54] All right, that'd be interesting. Yeah, I'd love to talk to you about that later. [32:01] I think the mods are just... I think the mods are just... [32:04] Is that a car? Could you mute yourself? [32:08] Is that a... [32:13] You seem to have a problem. [32:30] so wild speculation I think the mods are just holding off to drive the prices up [32:35] so that they get more coin all those mods and they are greed for money join [32:45] the goobler party for a rise of the proletariat there isn't anything wrong [32:55] with money especially 20,000 coins yeah let the [33:04] moths. I'm a bet with the moths. I'm kind of hoping that more than five people will be [33:09] able to afford the Leaville Lots because there's quite a few of them. Maybe hold a [33:16] lottery. I think a lottery would be nice for some of them but you don't want to [33:21] make them too easy to obtain because you run into the problem where you've got a [33:29] person who plays for a month or two, buys a lot, builds you know whatever a [33:34] random cobblestone box and then leaves and never comes back but their cobblestone box is stuck there. [33:41] No, it's so- [33:45] Well, we could instigate you're not allowed to buy a lot in less [33:49] you've been on the server so long [33:52] Well, I heard I had I heard the guy I forget who said it but it was [33:55] Involving your activity is letting you have a lot there [33:59] So basically if you're on the server a lot then you're going to be allowed to have a lot there because people know that you'll [34:03] be using it and then if you're not using it often we'd have to come up with a [34:07] time period but you're not logging on and you're not actively using it you'd [34:10] have to give it to someone else. Again if you've no way to contact people [34:14] when you'll be back. How about you also build off to see if people can put [34:21] something worthy there. That's a good idea have mods set a few lots aside [34:26] for the building competition, unprotect them, well give certain people rights to [34:33] them and at the end of the day or end of given period reset every lot except for [34:38] the one that's deemed worthy and then copy that to the final lot location. [34:44] The easiest would be just to do a day build off in flatland where it is creative and you can see how [34:51] creative song could be building it and then the rules would be you would have [34:56] Like in a month have to create that [34:59] That would definitely work [35:03] Yeah, I disagree because you'd have best people just building some crazy stuff instead of like I just want to build a nice little home [35:10] I don't want to build [35:11] you know crazy nice [35:14] build [35:16] I don't see a reason to make buying lots of competition. I think if you can afford a lot you should be able to buy a lot [35:24] Yeah, we just price them significantly high right? [35:28] Yeah, but if multiple people can afford one lot, I thought there might be something like a lottery to give people a fair or a chance of getting one if there's more people than there are lots available. [35:37] Uh, that's where it's first come first serve. If you buy the lot first, then it's your life. [35:44] At most, I could see as a limiting one lot per count. That's kind of what we've been planning on doing. [35:51] Or IP address for those people with multiple accounts. [35:54] Mm-hmm. What if you have a brother or family? I can't do IPs. I can't do IPs. DHCP gets rid of that one. [36:03] I'd say they at least be like 30,000 coins apiece. [36:07] That might be high. You might have four or five players that could afford that. [36:11] That's what I'm trying to avoid. I think 10k is a good number. [36:16] 10k is perfect. Because you can, any player can raise that that knows how, that just has enough time. It's not impossible. [36:22] Yeah, 10-20k would be acceptable, I would say. I can do 10k probably in three days straight of fundraising. [36:34] Maybe we could have the lots that are closer to Leoville more expensive and the lots that are farther away cheaper. [36:40] Better views and all that stuff, yeah. [36:43] What do you want to say? [36:45] What do you want to say? [36:47] What if someone wants to make a commercial lot or two would that change the price or would it be the same? [36:52] It's been said before that no stores would be allowed. [36:56] Okay. [36:57] What about apartment complexes? [37:00] And there will probably be a height limit as well. [37:04] That would be a commercial lot technically because you're making money off of apartments so I would say that would be a commercial lot. [37:12] Yeah, you can't plus people who bought an apartment would need building privileges and if they didn't buy a lot in Leo though [37:20] They're probably not gonna get added to the region [37:23] Well, I don't know depending on how we set up the selling lots [37:27] Because if someone's the owner of a region they can add members and give those members certain privileges in the area and not in the area [37:34] Right. So problem with making people owners of regions is that gives them the ability to change the size and shape of a region [37:42] so they could expand the region to encompass more area. [37:48] Yeah, well all you got to do on that is make sure they don't have the permission [37:51] world guard region redefined. Right, but that means that people who have lots [37:57] outside of Leoville can't use that. I don't see any reason why we should take [38:01] away the ability to redefine your own region. [38:06] I thought we actually couldn't redefine, I thought we had to do delete and claim [38:11] Cause we can't do defiance out of the blue. [38:13] Oh you know what? [38:15] No you can't. [38:16] Yeah because there were bugs involved in that. [38:18] So that might not be a problem at all. [38:20] What do you guys... [38:21] In that case you could sell a region like say I bought a region for 10,000. [38:24] I'm the owner I could sell it and change the owner to someone else. [38:29] Right I wouldn't have a problem with that. [38:30] What do you guys think about a rental system like where you'd pay rent on your lot every [38:34] month? [38:35] Hehehehehe. [38:36] it [38:38] that's why it's taking this long to get here is we've always wanted a rent [38:41] system [38:42] uh... and we can never find one that works [38:45] uh... [38:46] at least one the worst uh... [38:48] acro that's odd [38:50] uh... [38:51] so at this point [38:53] at this point i think we're we're getting to the point where [38:56] for the sake of [38:58] uh... having them for sale [39:01] it's been you know [39:02] prune [39:03] six eight what eight months ten months [39:06] uh... [39:08] since the servers but up and we start selling things [39:11] at this point we can won't be able to what we want people to be able to have [39:14] plots at this point [39:16] so i think we're going to be easiest option of [39:19] to selling them [39:21] let me can ask a question uh... what about resale after fact [39:25] i wouldn't have a problem with that uh... just get it [39:31] just as buying in now could [39:34] greatly shoot up the value of those assistance limited [39:40] right now is this is the only one [39:42] like a purchase multiple lots from different people [39:45] right yes other there there comes into the question of of the multiple lots [39:49] thing again you know [39:51] uh... [39:53] cuz i i kinda like on one hand i i like the idea of people [39:58] making money as real estate agents [40:00] of of buying up [40:02] you know multiple lots and then selling them [40:05] uh... but at the same time [40:07] i'd out i'd actually [40:09] I don't think I like the idea of, you know, Timmerwolf going and buying half a Leoville. [40:14] Yeah, I was gonna say that I could see buying more than one lot consecutively, meaning you [40:24] could make a like a mansion or whatever with two or three lots that you bought. [40:29] But I wouldn't want someone to own one lot on this side, then another lot, you know, [40:35] a block or two away and all that stuff. [40:37] Well I feel like if there was just a rule that you could only have one, that would be fine. [40:41] Because there are 40 lots, so that means 40 different people should be able to. [40:46] I don't think that's going to be a problem. [40:47] And if you just set it for one person, then if you already own one, then you can't buy another one. [40:51] I think that would be fine. [40:52] And that would also keep people that have a lot of money from just buying half of Leeloo. [40:56] That would probably be easiest, unfortunately. [40:59] But if someone needs to make a forum post with a date and a time when they're going to start doing it, [41:06] to start doing it or something because if we keep just talking about it never putting [41:09] a date on it then it's not going to happen but we still have to figure out the plug-in [41:13] system if that's going to work so really just we need Curly. [41:17] Honestly we could do a buy system without plug-ins. [41:22] Like at this point it would be a little bit of a pain actually at the start but if we [41:29] price them expensive enough so that you know we don't have a lot of people to [41:36] deal with you know it's easy enough for a mod to just type a command or whatever [41:44] we can do it via ModRek. A plugin makes it better. A plugin would definitely make [41:51] things easier. Another thing about would be how what would be the fairest way to [41:56] start this would you do like a lottery and then you get an order of who gets to [42:01] choose what lot they want first because I know people a good many people are [42:05] gonna want to buy lots but how do you choose the order how about if we set a [42:12] date when they're available on sale and whoever files the modric first gets the [42:17] plot first right that's that's how I would do it or if there's if we can't [42:20] have a plug-in then that would sort that out just whoever buys it first and [42:24] gets ownership of the lot wins. [42:26] What about doing auction on that day? [42:28] Yeah, maybe the premium lots, the ones that are right outside of Leoville could be auctioned [42:35] that day. [42:36] If you auction off, they would go for higher and higher and I think people would be willing [42:41] to have and pay more money for a lot right there. [42:46] Another note on this, as I was doing, probably thinking about this, the money that the lots [42:52] is purchased with since you know I don't know if the people that where does that [42:59] money where should that money go I guess is the question deleted from [43:02] that's that's that's been a question since before the server ever even [43:09] started is yeah that's what the current version of the plug-in number does it [43:12] just removes it from your account it goes off into either okay we've discussed [43:18] having some kind of a global bank that could be pulled from for things like [43:25] lotteries or whatever but I would make the most sense right to feed it back [43:32] into the economy but I think in reality we would just end up deleting it from [43:41] the server. Makes more sense to pull it out of the economy. It depends as money [43:48] Money only flows into the economy two ways, the I-Sell signs in Twitmark and salaries. [43:56] That's a lot of money. [43:57] Good point. [43:58] I'd say like a lottery to poor, not poor people, but like if you say discount anyone who's [44:06] got say higher than say X amount, say 30k and then just do a lottery for people who've [44:12] got lower than that amount of money. [44:15] but here i say i say no i don't open everybody you know that way then people [44:21] that have all that extra money will put it to use yeah i don't want that money [44:31] to disappear into the nesser but the only thing i could think of it would go to [44:34] other than the lottery would be more infrastructure and the only thing i can [44:38] think of that it's pretty much done i don't probably this is all we can give [44:44] all that money to me i can't deal with lots yeah that's what i want to avoid [44:51] uh... [44:52] i wanna avoid giving it to [44:55] you know giving it straight to uh... [44:58] players [44:59] and actually [45:00] uh... why don't we set up [45:02] if there's any way possible set up another account with kind of an [45:04] expanded twit store that [45:06] buys and sells [45:08] other material [45:10] precisely that's what abby said where it would go the money would go back into [45:14] the economy [45:16] most likely through infrastructure [45:18] that was what i was thinking [45:19] And that's basically what I was wanting to do with the AquaDome where we had that separate [45:25] account, the, you know, I've been terming it, the commissioner for now, have that separate [45:31] account that buys all the tools, all the items, everything else that are then used in the [45:38] AquaDome itself. [45:41] But pretty much there's a limited amount of, it's not an infinite amount of funds on [45:44] that account. [45:45] It either has to be cash flow positive or it will eventually just run out of money to [45:50] give out. [45:51] Well, yeah, and that's the commissioner. [45:54] What I've been saying so far is I would probably float the commissioner 5,000 coins or whatever [46:00] to start. [46:01] And then after that, he'd have to make the rest off of gambling or naming rights for the [46:06] Aqua Dome or something else. [46:09] The point of the commissioner is that it shouldn't be the actual flow to the Aqua Dome. [46:12] It doesn't it doesn't get mixed up with all the money that posters made off the backs of his gambling deals [46:19] I mean yes exactly [46:22] So if we could have someone on the server that does that officially so all of the plot money goes to that [46:28] Dummy account or dummy it might not even have a pretty we have probably a super person [46:33] Compiling the server or no we can have accounts that don't go towards players [46:39] But could you have [46:41] Sign shop set up to those signs. [46:44] So I was thinking, like have a nonprofit shop, kind of like Timber used to have, but so you could buy and sell things at the same price, but it's a lot more expanded than Twitmart, but and has all the current prices. [46:59] The way essentials are signed to where they can be set to buy and sell at what we call [47:07] worth, and there's a configuration file that defines the worth of everything, in that way [47:12] instead of having to go change all the signs, you can just do that. And I think essentials, [47:17] buy and sell signs are actually still on. Okay guys, we're pretty much done with plots, [47:35] or do you guys still have more ideas to... [47:39] I have one question. [47:42] The train station at Leoville, [47:45] is there any plans of just donating that to DOTS [47:49] so I can overhaul it? [47:50] Because I would love to change the science [47:52] and not really bother ModWix and things like that. [47:57] I don't know, that's Chad's thing. [48:00] I had a big argument with Chad about that whole building [48:02] when it first came about, [48:03] The agreement was it was his thing not mine. Okay. I'll come job his email box [48:12] Yep, just send him slash mail over and over again, please. I [48:16] Will just fill it up doesn't that require someone to get on the server to read? [48:22] That's a good point. Oh, so tweet him [48:26] Lots [48:28] Okay, I'll set up a PHP cron job that will do all of it every couple of minutes. All right, sweet [48:35] Robrow, I actually have a question about the DOT stuff that you've been working on. [48:41] Are you planning on completely decommissioning any lines in the near future? [48:46] Okay, decommissioning. The line that goes from the above ground one that goes basically from the Grand Central Station [48:56] past Roadkill's place, past some other places, basically stops three times in about, say about 500 blocks. [49:05] that's going and there's a tunnel and it'll just be rerouted around that so speed no one uses those [49:12] stations and so just the speed to a proper station would be much faster. My main question would be [49:20] there's the old line that goes to La Cheetah's Castle that basically pulls out of Grand Central [49:27] station goes through the um snow biome to a station that basically was by portal [49:38] basic i don't know what my plan is for that that might go or i might just wrap that line [49:44] somewhere else but i have that's the only line i have any thoughts of possibly decommissioning [49:50] i hate to interrupt you guys but we kind of are getting a little off topic um okay um we're [49:56] We'll just kind of rub it back in. [49:59] Do you guys have anything about Leoville Plots specifically [50:02] or anything or else we will get some new topics together [50:07] for next Town Hall? [50:13] Okay, I guess we'll, do you guys have anything? [50:17] I'm gonna be putting this in another Google Doc [50:19] for Town Hall number three. [50:22] Do you guys have any topics you wanna bring up [50:23] for next time? [50:25] There'll probably be another dot update [50:27] just to let everyone know what things have been done [50:30] unless people want to read the code size sometimes too. [50:34] Yeah, you might as well put Leoville Plots on there for actual too, because that's not happening. [50:38] Yeah, the Aqua Dome will probably still be under construction at that point as well, [50:43] but also if we could put a dot discussion and actually talk about [50:47] what we've started to bring up here this evening, that'd be great. [50:51] For DO2 stuff. [50:54] The community events, I'm sure, will probably need to be on it. [51:06] So you guys have any other thoughts or? [51:09] I've noticed one thing that's been happening recently is the whole rubber banding kind [51:13] of lagging effect where you'll be walking or sprinting and then after a few seconds [51:18] you'll just pop back to you know 10 meters before you where you were. [51:22] It seems significantly worse and it's always been there but it seems significantly worse [51:26] lately. [51:27] Well, my note what I've noticed is there are different times of day when it's you [51:33] know, different like early in the morning on the East Coast, it's fine. [51:38] There's no problem. [51:39] But I have to stop you guys again. [51:41] We are a little short on time. [51:45] We can talk about this on the next one. [51:48] So I think we're gonna wrap it up here. [51:50] I think I'm thinking all of you guys were coming in without you guys. [51:53] This would be literally nothing. [51:55] It would just be dead air and me. [51:57] I don't know. [51:59] Rambling off. [52:00] Talking to yourself or to Jimmy or something. [52:02] Yeah, sure. [52:03] Um, thank you all for coming, and that is Quick Craft Town Hall for Saturday, January [52:09] 12, 2013. [52:10] Thank you! [52:13] Woo! [52:14] Bye!
