[00:01] Welcome to Town Hall number 5 for April 20th, 2013. [00:08] So, you guys, we haven't done one for a month. [00:14] We kinda did one last month if you want to count that one. [00:17] But we are doing a full-fledged one this month. [00:22] So, first order to topic for our update section is [00:27] First year anniversary kind of new spawn kind of I kind of like yes a whole or [00:34] let the mods talk about this since they worked on spawn primarily. I guess we'll [00:41] have Asimov talk about it because he did a lot of work on it if you want to talk [00:47] about it. Yeah spawn was nice and everything but it had gotten a little stale. [00:54] I think in a year so we decided to just you know refresh it was sort of a [01:00] collaborative group effort you know me you to demon and blender and some other [01:07] people yeah I think even snowshoe I think at one point came down to help [01:11] with us but yeah one day I log in and as I'm off goes hey you want to come to [01:18] push it somewhere else have something cool and it's an entire new spawn and [01:23] yeah it's kind of just spawned from there pun intended but yeah I think it [01:28] looks really good and I hope everyone else likes it I don't know if you have [01:31] anything to talk or add to that, Lantes? I'm assuming not because you're muted. [01:37] Yeah, I mean, there's just a lot of fun redoing spawn and I hope you guys enjoy [01:41] it. So I guess, well, Rob's not here so we'll skip over DOT. Since poster is here [01:52] we can talk about the Aquadome. Hey guys, I had pre-recorded this just in case I [02:01] wasn't able to make it night, but basically Aquadome so far is still on [02:06] schedule for looking at doing a May 4th opening. Right now we don't have any supply needs in the [02:14] future. We might need to request some glass if you guys are willing to donate. If not, I can find a [02:20] way to get it because I'm your rich uncle poster and that's pretty much it. So next up is Sky5 Updates. [02:38] So as many of you may know the old commercial issues in Sky5 is no more. The mall is open. [02:44] Um, everything's going right there. I'm about to start converting all of the old commercial [02:51] district into residential lots because I'm starting to run out of space. So there'll [02:56] be a whole bunch of new residential lots opening real soon with that. [03:00] Alright, we'll move on to the flea market. Alright, I guess we're not moving on to the [03:16] flea market. Since Dragon of Halo is here, she can explain the Nether Road and its [03:21] progress. [03:24] Well, the nether road is pretty much done. We just need more locations [03:29] Yeah, all right [03:35] So on to our discussion topics. We might have a fun night coming up [03:40] So we're actually real quick. I apologize for interrupting dragon. What stations do you have? Could you mention that? [03:48] Die what what stations do you have on the nether road right now? [03:54] killer [03:56] We have airfield, we have the Hyrule airfield, [04:01] Sheepport, we have all the DOT hubs, we have the Sky5 DOT hub, [04:05] we have several player portals, [04:09] I have a good list somewhere. [04:11] We have the end portal. [04:17] Okay, cool. Is there, like in the future, do you have signs that, you know, map out where each one, you know, is headed, [04:24] or do you have a map somewhere that you're keeping track of it, that you can post or something? [04:30] I already have a kind of system set up where in the lobby itself you have all the [04:36] destinations listed on that central pillar and [04:40] Your southern rail road. Sorry southern road is on the southern road northern roads on northern road, etc [04:49] Okay, cool. I was just curious [04:51] All right. So first discussion [04:54] Distributed the first discussion topic of the night is [04:58] is 1.5 bugs. So anything you guys have noticed that's funky, weird, that needs to be fixed? [05:06] Did I explain the villager one first? Because that's going to be fun. [05:10] Go ahead. [05:11] Okay, so this is a little story. DragnaPale and I were transporting a village journal [05:16] mine cart. I was behind, I was probably 20 blocks behind Dragna, I see her walking and [05:22] just go to a dead stop. And I go, huh, that's weird. I walk up and I hit the dead stop [05:27] and neither of us can move. We're both in Mumble. We say, oh, what's happening? I hit [05:30] F3 in there, 8,000 entities. So we went, huh, that's weird. So I was able to move somewhat [05:40] and I left the chunk, I came back and then there were 16,000 entities and I was able to [05:45] see like a bunch of villagers and I was going, huh, that's weird. And we also had KJ in [05:51] Mumble and he said that there is apparently a bug where if you leave a village in a mine [05:55] incurred, I don't know what circumstances it has to be under, but it duplicates them [06:00] like crazy. [06:02] And this isn't something that's effective for getting villagers because then you have [06:06] to kill off about 2,000 of them to get your 10 that you want. [06:11] And it appears that whenever someone new enters that chunk, it doubles. [06:14] So I think ChickenU came out there in the middle of it to see what was happening and [06:18] then Andrew came out there and kept doubling, doubling, doubling. [06:22] Luckily spigot when we restarted the server cut it down to a reasonable amount [06:28] I think it was 80 by that time we had to kill off a few more [06:31] But so that's a big bug do not leave villagers of minecarts even if it's like a weird circumstance [06:37] Like oh, that's to be going northern on a rail it four blocks per second. It's still a big worry [06:42] So if you have villagers of minecarts, please remove them [06:46] So that we can understand [06:48] Just before we this happens again because we want to figure out what exact thing has to happen for it to happen again [06:55] That's what I have to say about that [06:58] So anyone else notice any one five bugs hiccups? [07:03] I don't know if it's exclusive to one five, but many you know that [07:07] Lock to lift signs are no longer respect the lock so anyone can use it regardless of the frictions you have set on it [07:14] I've noticed that too, and is there a fix for that? Does anybody know? Or is it just... [07:20] It's something that Curly is looking into, but I don't know at this point. [07:26] I would have to assume that because it's two different mods, [07:31] something updated into one mod that broke the connection between the two. [07:36] Because I don't know who makes LWC, but I know. [07:40] I know I'm pretty sure lift signs are made by the same guy that does world edit s [07:45] 89 K. I can't remember the name of the guy. Yes, they are su 89 K [07:50] Probably something with one of their updates messed both of them up [07:53] I don't know if they planned lift signs not work when they're locked, but I [07:58] Don't know if it was just a bug [08:01] That happened with that that allowed that [08:04] mechanic to happen [08:06] So, I don't know, there are plugins, I think, that allow the locking of LIF signs that work [08:12] directly with it, but I don't know if those plugins are updated for 1.5 or not. [08:20] Alright, anyone have any other bugs they want to bring to the table, or are they all good? [08:26] I'm not really sure if this is a bug, but don't mix prism and log block commands. [08:33] Yeah, don't do that. [08:37] That'll be a bug. And hopefully players aren't able to access any of those mixed up commands. [08:44] Um, I've noticed that, um, when I, my baby villagers that I mate, when I go to the resource world and then come back to them, that, um, they'll despawn sometimes. [08:56] And I don't know, um, I've recently only set up my mating facility so I don't know if it's exclusive to 1.5 or what. [09:03] I was having an issue with that and what it appears to be is that when you come back to that new chunk sometimes mobs will glitch into a wall. [09:11] That's what was happening with me so I don't know if that's what was happening with yours. [09:15] Oh that makes, that explains why they're getting out of the cage too. [09:19] Yeah because I think when you go to that new chunk their position is offset by maybe a half block so if they're up against the wall sometimes they'll suffocate so. [09:28] so my guess would be try and see if you can have water pushing away from a wall or something. [09:34] Okay, thanks. Yeah, I've had that problem since uh, tech I started playing. [09:43] Yeah, mobs are not the smart- smartest uh, things in Minecraft. [09:48] I have cows on one level and they- they spawn into the basement. [09:52] Yeah, especially into PCs. [09:53] Yeah, and I guess this really isn't a plug more as expected that some of your Redstone [10:03] stuff may not be working. [10:05] That's because they did a lot of changes, 1.5. [10:07] So maybe you have a T-flip flop or some sort of timer that doesn't work. [10:11] That's not really something that they can fix. [10:13] I guess it's mainly intended because they change how Redstone stuff works. [10:18] Yeah, they broke the best T-flip flop you could make. [10:25] Is that the one with the locking one? [10:28] Yeah. [10:29] Let's see how many people understand that conversation. [10:35] Alright guys, since I don't think anyone has any other things to bring up about one to [10:40] five bugs, I guess we'll kind of reinforce this as kind of our continuous property slash [10:46] land ownership topic. [10:48] So I guess I'll let you guys kind of run free with the topic, kind of discuss on what [10:54] you guys think we should do about land, ownership, etc. [11:03] In particular, what do you mean? [11:05] Like, I don't know if you guys remember a few months back, like people building other [11:10] people's stuff, stuff like that. [11:12] Well, I think there's two situations personally. [11:19] There's the pre-existing stuff that, you know, you built before that property was claimed [11:25] and there's the stuff that, you know, comes after the fact. [11:29] So let's say I'm building on the Aquadome and I hit somebody's underground home. [11:36] If that was there first, then they have no... it's theirs and I got to build around it. [11:45] But if I'm there already and somebody comes along and builds afterwards, which was a problem [11:51] that we actually had recently over at the Aquadome, I don't think that's right. [11:57] I think that that person who came along afterwards needs to remove it. [12:02] Yeah, I mean, technically, one block away from a house is that it's a region you can [12:09] build on because it's free land, but there is also the whole respect of the people's [12:12] buildings. [12:13] So, if someone is building this gigantic arena or house or something and you want to put [12:21] your five block wooden house there because you like that building, maybe you put a little [12:26] bit away just in case someone wants to upgrade that or talk with them first and say if Ask [12:31] if it's okay. [12:34] And that was what I was getting at today in that Aquadome Development District thread [12:39] that I started. [12:40] I don't necessarily have a problem with players coming in and building like their own little [12:45] island or whatever. [12:48] Just get with me first so we can try and organize it, try and make it look a little [12:54] nicer and everything else, not just throw up some little 5x5 house and say, here I am. [13:00] All right. Does anyone have anything to add to this or no? [13:07] I did actually have one more thing to add, and it's not quite along those lines, but I've noticed [13:14] that a lot of new players are actually having a hard time finding a place to build. [13:18] And a lot of that has to do with them not reading the rules and that they can't build [13:23] on the O'Villen and have to go out in the wilderness. A lot of it has to do with also [13:26] so that there's a lot of land that has been bought up [13:30] and fenced off with just a sign saying [13:34] that this is owned go away. [13:37] I mean, there are huge areas where, [13:40] I mean, nothing but fenced off land with a sign [13:44] until you can't build it. [13:47] Yeah. [13:48] Next to my house, there's a big open area [13:49] where Infair has a bunch of posts about [13:52] Infair owns this property or something, [13:54] and there's nothing there, [13:55] been nothing there since I've started playing the server and I'd like to use it [13:58] I've asked him but he doesn't respond. Yeah and that's one thing I'm guilty of [14:03] too and partly part of the reason why we've done that you know other players [14:09] have done it too was to try to keep out certain derpy builds from it and in [14:21] the land I have I'm open to giving it away if you know you're willing to come [14:26] and talk to me. I have no problem giving away land. I've given away land. But yeah, you're [14:31] right. There is a lot of land in your spawn that can be used. And I'd be happy to help [14:41] anybody who needs land. [14:43] Well, most of the stuff from U-Vantas that I've seen is in areas that you're actively [14:49] develop it. And that's, I think, another case where the areas I'm most talking about are [14:58] nowhere near anything that the person is building. It's just almost like they want the land to [15:03] resell or they just want it to have it. Well, here's one thing first, to mitigate the not [15:11] knowing where to build, this was actually something I was going to bring up later towards the end. [15:17] And I'm wondering if we shouldn't make it a little bit more involved to actually get [15:25] the privilege to break place blocks, like somehow involve registering on the forum itself, [15:34] and try to guide the newer players back into the forum. [15:38] Because honestly, like with this sculpture contest I did this last week, hardly anybody [15:44] even knew about it. [15:45] brought it up Wednesday night I'm like hey yeah it's closing tonight a bunch of [15:48] players what are you talking about and I think that if we got them into the [15:53] forum more you could get them to be more involved in the community and you know [15:59] actually know these things yeah I mean one thing I always did is that if someone [16:07] wanted to know how to make a region before I explained it in game I always [16:12] sent them to the forums because that was the first time they were ever [16:15] exposed to the forums and of course if they didn't understand from that I would help them [16:19] later but they knew about the forums at that moment. [16:24] Yeah, but I mean that's just clicking on a link and reading a thread. [16:30] I'm saying have something like where you can't do anything until you actually create, you [16:37] know, get registered on the forum, get approved and maybe even start a thread on the forum [16:43] saying hey this is you know my name's Bob and I'm wanting to do this or whatever [16:48] you're just a little introduction thread and then once that goes through [16:52] whitelist the player and let them actually be able to build I think that [16:56] would kind of bring them in you know I think that term is gray listing like [17:01] they can log in look around but they can't interact yeah I'm not much of a [17:06] server admin so I know that's what we used to do when we had a chat craft [17:11] which was the server before [17:39] Like I said, try to bring them in, get them involved. [17:43] Yeah, I mean, we've talked about doing things like that [17:46] to get them more involved at the start [17:47] so they know about everything possible. [17:49] Like having tutorial worlds for something [17:52] or having a world that made you do stuff [17:55] on the forums like that. [17:57] I think that we probably should implement something like that [17:59] but it's gonna be a big discussion [18:01] before we actually do implement it [18:03] to make sure that everything's done right. [18:07] Just to interject real quick, it's a lot of topic [18:10] but with the griefers that we've been having recently, [18:13] I just banned two of them today. [18:16] If you see anything like that in Flatline going on, [18:19] please do let us know immediately. [18:21] And if none of the mods are online that you see, [18:25] you can always send a Twitter message to at twitcraft, [18:30] Vantis's Twitter or mine at sarcasticsiline, [18:34] which just changed the other week. [18:37] mine on iPod parf. Alright, so this is kind of one that was heating up in the forums. [18:48] It was finding a sign shop alternative. This one was submitted by Tabraid, who unfortunately [18:55] is not here. So I want to just put this out here. What do you think we should do? Since [19:01] sign shop is not using an SQL database, it's just using a flat file. Does anyone have [19:07] any suggestions on what we should use, what we should do, if we do find a plugin, how [19:12] we should implement it, stuff like that. [19:16] I don't have any issues with Sign Shopper behind the scenes, not anything at all that [19:20] affects players. [19:22] So that's mostly getting it up to what Curly wants with the standard of his plugins. [19:31] So if you have any suggestions, I mean there's a thread on the forum towards. [19:36] Yeah, I don't know of any other plugins really but the only thing that I really want functionality wise [19:43] I want to still be able to toggle, you know redstone switches because that's gonna be a big thing in the aqua dome and [19:49] I don't want to lose that functionality [19:52] Yeah, I know I was on prisms website and the same devs are working on like a sign shop [20:01] Alternative, so maybe that's something we could look into in the future. I know it's not out yet. They're saying spring 2013. So [20:07] So maybe something to keep in mind or keep an eye out for. [20:12] Yeah, there are plenty of alternatives out there right now. [20:17] And if we do, I wouldn't have a problem with it. [20:19] I would just say maybe keep them running together for a short period of time and just maybe [20:26] make it so people can't create the old ones. [20:29] So people will have a month to transition over to the new system, but their old signs [20:33] will still work until they do. [20:35] Yeah, I mean just have to make sure the plugin hooks in with Iconomy and all those other [20:42] various plugins and has the same if not better features than Slanshop. [20:50] We could always just go with the plugin that was on the Frogpan server where everything's [20:54] worth gold, which is a terrible idea, but I think it'd be hilarious. [21:00] At that point, Geo would have all the money ever. [21:03] I was gonna say you could just do it for like April fools or something but oh man. [21:08] No, do it for one day. Have a good. [21:10] One thing that that I think needs to be addressed with that is that if we do go to an alternative is that's going to create a lot of work on the user end to recreate associations with whatever we would go with. [21:28] And that was I think one of the concerns of going to something new versus sticking with [21:34] Sign shop is that everybody who's got a shop and who has [21:40] Things associated with the shop is going to have to read [21:43] Do it all and that was kind of a big concern with going with something different [21:48] Yeah, but I don't think [21:51] We have a tendency to do this where it's like oh, that's gonna be a lot of work on the end user [21:55] user. If it's something that's better and it's going to benefit the server in the long [22:01] run, I think we need to quit doing that where we say, oh, well, it's just going to make [22:07] the end user have to do a lot of work. That's temporary. It's not a long-term thing. And [22:11] then after that temporary amount of work, you're good to go. So I think that shouldn't [22:17] be a major reason to not do something like this. [22:22] Yeah, considering how much we all play Minecraft it won't be that much of a dent in our [22:28] fun part of Minecraft [22:30] And if I can make more money, I'm in [22:34] As long as it doesn't interfere with my grass growing gambling. I'm good the plugin actually stops grass from growing [22:46] Then I hate it. All right. Oh, go ahead [22:54] I was just agreeing [22:57] I wouldn't mind myself have to redo all my sign shop again [23:01] If we can get like slash suicide back, which if we do great, if we don't, oh well, I can [23:06] just jump off Skype back again. [23:09] And also one thing I have to add, if we do switch over, it'll be preferable if the thing [23:16] had like share signs like we do now because with my shop it's split profits. [23:24] Yeah. [23:25] If I'm kind of interested to see what Prism does, I just found out that Prism is doing [23:31] that. [23:32] So that will be interesting because I bet you Prism may have some way of converting [23:36] SignShop database into Prism database. [23:39] That's what it has for like log lock. [23:42] Yeah, I think this is something that we should probably make a list on the form of these [23:48] are the functionalities that we need before we look into any other plugin. [23:53] And then, you know, people can add on whatever they need specifically. [23:57] And we can look to see if there's an alternative that meets those requirements. [24:01] Alright, so... anyone have any more things to talk about this or you guys ready to move on to the next topic? [24:13] One thing I would like to see is we used to have the ability to create sign shops between like the Nether and the regular world, but we lost that ability in one of the updates here lately. [24:31] So I don't know if maybe someone could get something to Curly about that. [24:38] I could message him on Skype right now and see if that was a permission change or something. [24:44] Okay, I just didn't know if it was done on purpose or what. [24:49] I bet you what happened probably is there was never a permission thing to allow it or [24:54] not and they probably added it and instead it to no by default. [24:58] That would be my guess. [25:00] Well from what I've seen I think it's like a permission that lets you create signchops [25:06] between worlds which would also let you create a chest in flatland put your [25:10] thousands of diamond blocks and then sell them in survival and so I guess [25:14] that's what he wanted to make sure it wasn't possible so it's gonna be tricky [25:17] to separate the worlds correctly well it used to be like that I tried that [25:22] before and it would it wouldn't work in creative but it would work in the end [25:26] and the nether yeah maybe it's only did we ever try it [25:31] resource to overworld because maybe that has something to do with it as well you [25:36] can't go to another world I think resource to other world hasn't really [25:42] been tried because you know that resets yeah I'm gonna try it right now all [25:51] right then we might have an answer by the end of the show yeah maybe it has to [25:54] do with Mike world to chair inventories or something [25:59] but I mean you have to hook into multi inventory but oh well we can help okay [26:05] I think we're ready to move on right chicken. Yes this one this topic was submitted by dragon Halo [26:11] 312 [26:13] It was spigots any limited limit causing natural spawning [26:19] Mob grinders to be less efficient in the nether and and so I guess I'll have you take this away dragon so you can explain I [26:27] Actually, I just heard timber and several and geo and couple of people [26:32] talking about it and I have no clue what I'm talking about and I will just be [26:36] pulling stuff out of my butt so can one of you guys really take over? [26:39] I can try to explain it. Before Spigot mobs in the Nether and End were up to [26:44] like you could have 80 and now it's down to like 20, 20 to 30 and that's [26:52] just how Spigot decided to handle it. I'm sure we can change it but before we [26:57] change it we'll probably want to make sure you work out all the current [26:59] kinks with zigit right now. I don't know if you have anything else to add to that as [27:05] a lot for Vontas. Are we sure that's spigot because I mean that could just be [27:11] due to an increase of you know player activity in those worlds and the [27:16] density of Enderman Grinder significantly increasing. Well I remember the night we [27:23] switched to spigot I was actually in the end and it was about 80 in there and [27:27] And then even when there's only one person in the end at one grinder, it only goes up [27:31] to 25. [27:32] I think I remember currently talking about that it was specifically Spigot and that's [27:37] how it decided to do default spawns. [27:40] Yeah, and at the time, I mean, no one complained because prior, I mean, TPS was so bad, we [27:47] were willing to take the hit with the entities, you know, in the end and stuff. [27:52] So, yeah. [27:53] Yeah, once we, I feel once we can figure out how to, because right now we'll randomly [28:00] dip down to about 11 for maybe 10 minutes and it'll come back up or even longer than [28:06] that. [28:07] I think once we figure out those issues we can try and test some increasing spawn limits [28:13] in the Nether and End. [28:18] Alright, anyone else have anything to add? [28:24] I guess I can add that make sure that your mob grinders are more than like 128 blocks [28:31] away from other ones before you blame the entity limit because I know there's been some [28:35] people who think like their grinders only get like five endermen and then they find [28:39] out that they built barely too close to another grinder which has happened and it sucks. [28:47] Alright, so this next one was kind of from last month's. [28:51] was supposed to be discussed but it was Flatland reset like kind of maybe reset it monthly, [28:58] biweekly, something like that. So I guess I'll have you guys take it away or maybe ideas [29:05] to change it, reset it. Do you need the idea? Oh, go idea. Okay, I was just gonna say quickly [29:12] that there are people that do play on here that only play in Flatland so that would [29:16] kind of mess up with them. Yeah, I don't think that was the intention when we originally [29:22] decided to go with a Flatland versus creative mode. I think the Flatland area [29:29] was meant to do prototypes and demos and you know quick builds to try things [29:36] out to collaborate with people in a fast manner and I know that there are some [29:42] people now that are literally doing nothing but in Flatland. I think if we [29:48] do go to the reset which it makes it easier on the mods because they don't [29:52] have to deal with, you know, griefing and such in there if it's done on a regular basis [29:58] where we reset it, but it could be made available to download and there's all kinds of positives [30:03] and negatives with it, but it just something that needs to be discussed. [30:08] I think that first off everything rage said about how it was supposed to be used versus [30:14] how it's being used currently is correct. [30:18] And I think that honestly you should have it reset like every, I'd say probably like two [30:25] three months and then just before you reset it go to the forum and say hey we're doing [30:31] a reset you know Saturday night at whatever Eastern time. [30:36] And if you want to keep whatever build you have in there, shift it over to push it somewhere [30:41] else and you know do that do a mod rec shift it to somewhere some place it [30:47] somewhere else and if you don't put the mod rec in you're done well they could [30:52] always just make like just save the world make it available for download [30:56] and that way you don't have to have the mods dealing with all those push it [31:01] requests yeah the problem with that though is you get the problem was the one guy who was [31:07] exploring to 17,000 decks and suddenly the world becomes too big for Curly to [31:12] deal with which is the problem. I'm sorry and Curly is going to make the current [31:18] flatland available when it does get reset. I guess the only problem is that [31:26] if you do do if do do he if you do do a vote for if we should keep it or not [31:32] the people who play on there a lot will be heavily outweighed by the people who [31:37] go there occasionally to build which is which sucks but I think that Flatland [31:43] should probably be experimenting not build there only ever but how many [31:50] people are honestly more than you'd expect are probably not enough to [31:57] affect it to where we keep the current one yeah that that's what I'm saying is [32:03] Honestly, I think that there's maybe what, 5-10 they're doing that? [32:09] I would say more, but I don't know the exact count. [32:13] Would it be feasible to have a creative world just for that and then have a test world for [32:19] resetting? [32:20] A smaller one, yeah. [32:21] I don't know. [32:23] We've talked about maybe having a creative world that you'd have to be given permission [32:28] to go to to stop the griefing but that would take probably more policing than [32:35] it'd be worth because you know you get the one time a guy builds there [32:39] legitimately for a week and then destroys everything and it becomes a [32:44] headache well we did have a creative world but no one used it so that's why [32:50] we went with flatland or defended it well when it was being removed I know [32:56] my friend at school was very angry that it got removed but he never voiced his opinion. [33:02] And one of the reasons it was because it was lagging the server so hard. [33:06] Yeah because lava was being poured everywhere and that was a fun issue. [33:12] All the light updates from the lava and fire and stuff. [33:19] The thing that I think would be beneficial would be if we have, because these are all [33:25] ran on the same server and it's all about server performance and we don't want to hinder [33:32] survival which is where 95% of us spend 99% of our time by having this other world that [33:41] you know does take way more resources server wise than it should and that's you know and [33:49] mod time and things like that. Like it's better to kind of nip it in the bud before it becomes a [33:57] huge issue for time and everybody and a big thing. That was my big concern when I heard [34:04] about Enchantia and kids building there. I'm like, whoa, we were wanting to address this like [34:09] months back and it never really got brought up and wasn't really a big issue. [34:14] But now since they're building there, it's like this needs to be talked about and we need to [34:19] to figure out what is the best way to handle it going forward. [34:24] Yeah, it has been a big discussion [34:26] with all the mods and Curly, [34:28] because we are trying to figure out a good medium [34:31] to reset it at and what rules should be applied to it. [34:37] All right. [34:39] The next one is opening up Prism permissions to the users. [34:45] Like not all of them, [34:46] but like the basic ones that we get with log lock. [34:48] Someone in your guys' opinion, [34:50] I primarily brought this one up by wanting your guys's opinions. If us as users from the mods [34:57] perspective should get these basic like just using the wand or if not... [35:05] Can we explain what Prism is for people who don't know first? [35:07] Yes. Prism is basically a block changing plugin that'll track block changes throughout the whole [35:18] server but it does more it'll actually track entities stuff like that similar to log block [35:25] which only tracks block changes and both these plugins mods used to do rollbacks. [35:36] Did we ever find out if global rollbacks were possible? [35:43] With Prism they are it's just that it has a default radius of 100 and that's what it's [35:48] set to right now. [35:49] Okay, that's what it was. Okay, so it's only at 100. That's kind of not good. [35:55] Well, I mean, when I banned the griefers today, I actually switched back to log block because [36:01] I had the global rollback on everything they had done today. That didn't fix everything because [36:08] there was so much water and it drained so slowly that when you moved out of the chunk, [36:11] it stopped the rollback and it came back in and it just saw that there was water there. [36:16] So I had to go through and drain everything. [36:21] Is Prism intended to completely replace Logblock, [36:25] or is it meant to be like a pseudo side grade replacement? [36:30] We're running them side by side right now as a test [36:33] to see how they worked and to see what [36:35] the mods thought of Prism. [36:37] But because of the extra features it has over Logblock, [36:44] Honestly, it's the only thing I ever use if I can help it. [36:50] Sorry, go ahead. [36:51] Oh, I was just gonna say from a mock perspective, [36:53] I haven't used it a whole lot. [36:55] But if we ever find issues with rollbacking [37:00] or rolling back blocks, I think it'd be cool [37:03] because we could probably have log block for all blocks [37:06] and have Prism for the extra features maybe. [37:09] If that's what we wanna come down to. [37:43] kind of become used to having a little wooden pickaxe and I like it and it's [37:49] very handy to find out if did I do this to my own stuff or did somebody grief me [37:55] I know posters had issues with that before I've had issues with that before [37:58] where we just don't remember and it's kind of useful to have it before we [38:02] submit a mod request about something that we've done ourselves yeah I mean [38:10] definitely I think giving people basic information or looking up information [38:17] should probably be allowed so you can make sure you didn't like like roof that [38:21] oh it was myself yeah but I don't know I it's also the thing is players having [38:28] to get used to prism that could also be an issue but then again if it's better [38:32] for the server we're gonna switch to it right may also mention that prism it'll [38:38] just to use your hand as the wand whereas log block will actually give you a pickaxe [38:43] which is kind of handy but kind of cheaty kind of handy huh yeah I think you can set [38:49] anything to be the wand in prism which I don't know how that works really you can set it [38:56] for the default you can also change it on a personal level although I don't believe [39:01] it will give you the item I was gonna say if you change your wand to be a diamond block [39:06] and then you want to give yourself a wand, how does that affect everything? [39:11] I think you just have to have the block that you are using. [39:15] I didn't know if it would give you another block that you set it to. I'm assuming not. [39:20] That's something we'd have to test because I haven't actually ever changed it because I like, [39:25] you know, using my hand. Alright. Anyone have anything to add to this? Alright. [39:40] Next topic is AFK machines and how we should deal with them. [39:45] So no rage is kind of wanting to hit this topic. [39:50] Yeah, could you define them first for those who don't know? [39:54] AFK machines are typically the 3x3 minecart tracks in a circle. [40:01] Or they can be, there's one that you could do that used water, but something that keeps [40:07] you active on the server without being kicked. [40:12] there is a 10 minute timer that if you do not interact within that timer you will get [40:17] kicked and people will circumvent that and technically that's not a rule technically [40:25] but it is very discouraged from a mod perspective. [40:29] Yeah it's very discouraged and yeah like what Asimov just built on the stage if you're [40:36] in game here. And I think it kind of circumvents the spirit of that setting. So no, I don't [40:47] think that's a good idea at all. [40:52] It's just become a much larger issue in the last couple months due to iron golem grinders [41:04] because people are literally sitting afk collecting iron selling it to switmar making money and it's just becoming a very [41:13] Negative I feel like it's it's just it's just a detriment to the spirit of [41:18] What we're trying to do here and what the community is, you know, the direction the community is moved. All right, anyone else have any [41:30] opinions [41:32] I think it crosses another level also when you're using an alt account that so like you're playing a game [41:37] But you also have something that's just going in circles and making money 24 seven and [41:44] Yeah, it's just yeah, it gets excessive that was one thing it's a vanilla thing [41:50] so it's hard to like there's really nothing illegal about it, but [41:54] It's just it's just not right. Yeah, it's [41:58] It's very because not everyone has the ability to [42:03] play Minecraft and [42:35] That's like you know, they're in that gray areas like yeah, but it's okay [42:38] It's like yeah [42:39] I want to stay in the mine an afk machine to keep my chunk active because I need my grass to grow in an area [42:46] that's very different than I'm gonna sit in front of a [42:50] Iron golem grinder that's literally I'm not even killing anything [42:53] I'm just sitting there while lava is doing all the work and if everything's getting dropped and I'm just picking up the crap [43:00] Which is very different from an endermen grinder, which you still have to at least kill them [43:04] you know by punching them and then pick up the stuff. Quick fix would be to remove [43:10] iron from Twitmart. That was something that I mentioned earlier to a handful of [43:17] people. That could definitely be brought up with mods is mean to talk about [43:24] because everything with Twitmart kind of goes by demon 5 before it's settled [43:29] which is fun. You can probably talk to him about that. Well it's because none of us [43:35] want to set up the signs there and get spammed while we're in game from the people using [43:40] them. Yeah, we can't do a dummy account for those apparently, which is also great. Just [43:49] use Curly's account. No, I don't. We could and then when Curly looks into server stuff, [43:57] he gets spammed with a million different sell signs. Don't wait, didn't they buy? Didn't [44:06] somebody get an alternative account like there was like something like twit bank or something [44:12] I could be completely wrong there no what we did is that so that I think the rent signs [44:18] worked we sent it to a fake account called twit bank and then we banned that account [44:24] on the server so that even if someone buys that they can't log into the server okay [44:32] which is yeah. [44:34] Alright. [44:38] I guess this time I know we've kind of ran a little off topic here tonight but it was [44:44] kind of a good thing. [44:45] It was all very relevant stuff. [44:47] Is there anything anyone else wants to bring up before we end the town hall tonight? [44:53] What do people think about being able to teleport to their regions? [44:57] I know there's like a parent region and sub region. [44:59] Maybe just be able to teleport to the parent region so they don't abuse it. [45:03] You mean have more than one teleport? [45:06] Like a slash home to... [45:09] What he means is that with World Guard you can actually set a teleport point for a region [45:15] and then use a command to teleport to that point. [45:20] That is currently disabled. [45:23] If we can get that turned on I think that's perfectly fine. [45:27] My beef was I didn't want people using an extra home teleport and we got into this on [45:34] the forum to basically circumvent traveling on roads and everything else because a lot [45:40] of the stuff you find you don't find unless you're out walking around. [45:45] So for certain reasons I won't bring up right now I am or having it disabled forever ever [45:55] ever ever ever ever ever. [45:57] Are you saying here? I think I can say what you're trying to say without saying what you're trying to say [46:03] challenge let's say go home. Let's say someone has alt accounts and they [46:09] Use an alt count one region per alt account then that person would have more teleports [46:15] than another person [46:17] There is that yeah, and then that goes into a whole nother discussion [46:22] Um about why it shouldn't happen [46:25] All I'm saying is that teleporting to regions probably shouldn't happen. [46:30] This is also the problem that maybe if permission gets messed up and you can teleport to any [46:34] region and that would be bad. [46:37] Completely bad. [46:38] Terrible. [46:39] Bad. [46:40] Fun. [46:41] Terrible. [46:42] Sad. [46:43] Depressing. [46:44] Ingrating. [46:45] Alright guys, I think we're going to wrap up Town Hall. [46:47] So thank you all for coming to Town Hall tonight for participating. [46:53] have you for providing your input opinion on these topics tonight. Yeah, [47:00] make sure to follow the Twitcraft Town Hall WordPress page. So that's twitcraft [47:06] townhall.wordpress.com. You can also follow Twitcraft events. That'll get you [47:12] more frequent updates. And that's about it. Thanks for coming guys. Thank you sir.
