[00:00] Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to welcome all of you to the first town hall we've had in several months [00:07] Thank you everybody for coming and we've got several topics that we'd like to talk about this evening [00:13] first off [00:14] If you have any questions or you would like to make any comments or anything [00:20] Please do so in the mumble chat if you do not have a microphone active [00:25] Basically, I will read off your question and then we'll try to address it as best we can [00:30] We do not have text to speech turned on so that will not be heard on the recording. [00:37] First topic of discussion we have is our recent what I called the Diamond Grief Club incident. [00:45] Van, would you like to discuss the issue or would you like to have one of us just do a general overview of it? [00:51] I can just say something quick about it. [00:53] So last Monday, there was a griefer who was able to use a vanilla exploit to [01:00] spoof his account to make it look like he was home to chat to the server. [01:04] So he's able to use world edit and spawn things like withers and, and give [01:10] people, you know, tons of diamond blocks. [01:13] Um, he was able to world edit away spawn in the end, um, and an [01:19] enderman grinder in the end. [01:20] He has been from a band and we've tried to roll back everything he's done. [01:27] I think there's still some diamond blocks out in the wild. [01:31] Curly has asked people if they have diamond block from that day, please do the gentleman [01:37] thing, gentlemanly thing and get rid of it, destroy it. [01:42] Otherwise I've been going around hunting down hidden diamond chests that people have hidden [01:48] and trying to get rid of it that way. [01:52] Since then, Curly has updated the server, [01:54] so people can't use that exploit again. [01:58] So hopefully it won't happen again. [02:02] Cool, good. [02:04] I know a lot of us were very concerned about it, [02:07] and it, you know, we're very upset on the forum for a while as well. [02:12] I'm glad that it was able to be resolved. [02:15] I'm sure we're all glad that you guys were, you know, [02:17] able to roll back the damage. [02:18] And if we come across any of those diamonds, we'll get rid of them. [02:24] Please. All right. [02:28] I'd like to say a thank you to Tim Timber for dealing with the [02:33] withers that spawn and prevent it even worse damage than actually took place. [02:37] He was very brave and we all followed on trying to do our best. [02:42] But he he did the killing mainly. [02:44] Yeah. Thank you to everybody for joining in and doing that. [02:47] Because since he's not here to take a bow, I would like to save that to put him. [02:53] Thanks. [02:54] Yeah, good call. [02:57] Let's see here. [02:58] We have the 1.7 update that we're going to talk about, but I wanted to save that for [03:05] next to last just because I know that's going to be a long conversation. [03:10] Real quick, for the formats in the future, do you want to continue to do it the way [03:17] we were doing it before where basically people ask questions how we're running it right now [03:22] or would you like to come up with a different format where it's very structured and everybody [03:27] only has a set amount of time they're allowed to respond. Do you want to do this at the [03:33] time that we're doing it right now? Do you want to call it something else other than [03:37] town hall? How would you guys or do you have any suggestions for improvement or changes [03:43] in general or do you want to keep it pretty much as it is and try to keep it about this [03:47] time on Saturday evenings once a month? [03:52] Time itself, I mean every month I don't know if we need it every month because I mean it [03:58] has happened that we and there are some months when nothing much happens and so the town [04:04] holder sense of being peed at all so why are you doing why are you doing other than some [04:09] more interesting debates about how the service should be run so maybe just have it be [04:15] of the occasion when there's something massive happening on the forums that need to be discussed [04:19] as a co-operation of everyone. So you're saying have the town halls more reserved for debate and [04:28] discussion of major issues and maybe have some other sort of recording for updates, like an update [04:36] Yeah, or I mean, however, I mean, I'm not saying in my opinion, it's just maybe I sometimes find [04:43] find that some of the town halls has ended up being just like just every person's just [04:49] instantly saying well this is what I'm doing I need basically can you all help and give [04:53] me something like blocks or time and it just ended up being reasonably nothing much and [04:58] rather like a good discussion about important topics rather than everyone's own personal [05:04] projects that they're all working on which can be easily summed up on forum discussions [05:09] rather than a town hall devoted to it. [05:11] Okay, did anybody else have an opinion? [05:15] I think that town halls ought to be for everybody to come along and put their ideas forward. [05:24] It doesn't have to be terribly structured. [05:29] And then if something is very important that needs to be addressed by people who are more expert on dealing with issues of the nature that the problem is, [05:41] is then they should perhaps have a small group that addresses the issue between them, either [05:46] moderators or moderators plus others or you know some special committee that people decide. [05:53] But the Town Hall I think should be generally for everyone to come along and put their two [05:57] pennies. Obviously some structure is necessary to avoid it going off into weird directions [06:03] but I do think if it's a Town Hall there should be something like a Town Hall for everyone [06:09] to come along and put their points of view from my idea. [06:15] The one thing that I think needs to be stressed is that if we're going to do something like [06:21] this, that we need to make sure that it is a decentralized thing where lots of people [06:27] can step in and do different responsibilities and we're not relying on any one or two certain [06:33] people to have a town hall. [06:36] using mumble the way that we're using it, I think that it does lend itself to that functionality. [06:43] But that's the one thing that in the past we've had issue with one person using it and [06:49] trying to control the whole situation, instead of it being a community type discussion. [06:57] Yeah. [06:58] Yeah. [07:01] Great. [07:02] Yes, that's pretty much what we're trying to do here. If there was somebody else who [07:12] wanted to step up next time to do a hosting, that's fine by me. It doesn't bother me in [07:16] the slightest, and I'm more than willing to do that. [07:21] So if it's recording with me, if someone else, if I'm not available, if someone else [07:25] we call it and just as long as you record it and post it publicly, I think that's fine. [07:32] That's exactly what I was going to say next. Yes, precisely. Okay, let's go to the big [07:39] can of worms. The 1.7 update, I'm sure some of you all have looked at or seen that we've [07:47] been talking about it on the forums. It's going to be a biome update, and it's going [07:53] to do significant improvement in some people's eyes, problems in other people's eyes, to [08:00] maps. The main problem that we have is our map is what it was generated in, what was [08:08] it? 1.2.4 of Minecraft? Somewhere around there. I think I remember people saying that [08:16] spawn itself is 1.3 and then most of the world is 1.4 with the more out further away from spawn getting all getting like [08:25] newer and newer but but again with the update nothing since probably about the 1.2 update has [08:33] ever been this big in biome changes. Yes and the other problem we're having is if we just do a [08:41] a simple expansion of the border or region of land. It creates massive cliffs that Van [08:49] has posted on the forums. It just creates really ugly massive cliffs and it does that [08:57] all around the border of wherever you've regenerated. So we have a few options on the forum that [09:03] we've been discussing. Van, I know a lot of people have spoken up and said that they [09:09] really liked your idea. Did you want to address that? Just give an overview of what you proposed [09:17] and then we can go from there? Yeah, so my proposal is to add a new survival world to Twitcraft, [09:25] right? And it would be generated under the 1.7, so it would have the new biomes. [09:30] And instead of having just one Leoville city like we have today, we'd have five. So the idea is when [09:37] When you first log into the server, you'll have a portal to go to the flight line and [09:41] then you'll have a Stargate to any of the five cities. [09:45] So you choose one of the five cities to go visit and start building, right? [09:54] That would help alleviate stress that we are having with land around spawn. [09:59] Trying to get land around currently, it's almost impossible. [10:02] It's been built up. [10:05] You know everybody wants shops at Leoville because that's where everybody is. [10:12] And now we have a problem with lag at spawn because all the sign shops. [10:15] So if we spread that out between five cities that helps with those land issues, the shop [10:21] issues. [10:24] And it allows us to, like I said, spread out the player population between those five cities. [10:32] So it'd be a lot easier for new players to find wilderness to build on. [10:38] Now getting the mods to build five cities is going to be tough. [10:41] So my idea was to put it to allow certain players to become mayors of those cities. [10:47] So they would help build out those cities and set up roads. [10:52] So there's actually an organized road system. [10:56] There's nether roads connecting, you know, each of the cities. [11:00] So it's built from the beginning with growth in mind, right? [11:04] Unfortunately we didn't have that in our current Twitcraft world. [11:10] So that's basically the idea. [11:14] Now I don't want to put so much stress on the mayors to build up the city, so one of [11:20] the ideas was to allow certain builds to be transferred over to this new world using WorldEdit. [11:28] So if there's a really cool world, or not world, really cool building in our existing [11:32] Twitcraft world, we would world edit over to the new world in one of those cities. [11:39] So my example was Legata's awesome castle he built. [11:44] I think it's called Fort Valkyrie. [11:46] That could be world edited over as a city in the new map. [11:52] And he would be the mayor and he'd have players helping him out build up his city, [11:57] up the roads and there would be a transitionary period where not everybody is allowed on this [12:05] new server, only the mayors and people that are helping their mayors build up the roads. [12:13] Once that's done, you know, it'd be up to the mayors to dole out land and give first [12:27] to land outside those cities to people that volunteered their time to help build up those cities eventually, you know a week later [12:35] Anybody could claim land in that wilderness wilderness area. So that's basically my idea [12:42] And so I don't know how you guys would feel about that I know some people have agreed [12:47] That'd be a good idea other people would want their own builds moved over [12:52] But I guess that's open for discussion. That's why we're here. Yes [12:55] My main concern would be I know that you guys don't want to, you know, day in and day out have to copy paste, copy paste, copy paste all day long. [13:07] I think that we would need to figure out what the cutoff would be for what would be transferred and what wouldn't be transferred. [13:16] I mean, Legata's Fort Valkyrie is a very large build, and actually this was something that [13:29] Rage was bringing up earlier. [13:33] Actually I think Rage dropped off, I apologize. [13:36] Nope, you're there, I'm sorry, I missed you. [13:39] That was something that Rage brought up a few minutes ago before we started, and if [13:43] If he wanted to take away with that, he could also discuss wanting to have it not too structured [13:50] or controlled that Blender brought up in text chat here. [13:56] The one thing that I would be concerned with, I know that he, Bontos hit on this very quickly, [14:01] but we could start a, it would be a new server. [14:05] It wouldn't be an added on thing to this or would it be an added on thing? [14:10] I mean, there's there's different ways you can kick it but I feel like the making a new server would be a better [14:16] Way to go about it because that way we can add in all the things [14:20] That basically made you know that we're like [14:23] Oh [14:23] We don't want to do stargates because it devalues and certain people don't want it [14:27] So people do want it [14:28] We don't want to do this and that because sir, you know, nobody can come to an agreement [14:32] Whereas if we go with a new start, it's a lot easier to just be like here's what we're gonna do [14:37] this is how it's going to be and decisions can just be made and [14:41] If somebody wants to play on the old existing world they can there they can play on this new world [14:47] See my concern with that is [14:50] We have a problem now where we're split up or going a lot of different places and [14:57] If you leave both maps open [15:00] You're basically saying yeah go wherever and you're gonna split a population. That's small right now [15:07] even further and [15:09] I honestly what I would like to do personally is leave this old map [15:15] Available as a non editable, you know, you can go in walk around look at the old builds [15:20] But you can't change anything. You can't break blocks or anything else. I [15:25] Don't think that if we do go to a new map we need to have two places where you can live [15:31] I think that was a problem that we had with the old [15:35] survival [15:36] Build map that I personally rarely went to but I know some players went too frequently [15:43] What else arrival build there wasn't there an old like a [15:48] It had a jungle spawn or something like that. I [15:54] Don't know. Do you mean the old creative world that okay? [15:58] Creative okay, that was a creative. I'm sorry. Yeah, like I said, I rarely went there [16:03] Yeah, there was a creative world before Flatland and then Flatland was created just to have [16:09] a flat area to build stuff, which was mainly what you want as a creative place instead [16:16] of a like another generated world. [16:22] So this has happened before, right? [16:25] Before Twitcraft currently hosted something called Chatcraft, and they went through a [16:31] similar thing we're going to do right now where they had two survival worlds a [16:38] brand new one and an old one eventually everyone moved to the to the brand new [16:43] world and I remember I bought saying blender might evil might not be able to [16:49] to correct me but he I bought said that pretty quickly everyone moved over to [16:56] the new survival map and I expect the exact same thing to happen here if we [17:01] allow players to build on both maps. I agree I think since the current map is [17:08] so I'm concentrated with people and there's no new space to build anything [17:13] soon as you have a new map where people are more spread out and easily able to [17:17] build closer to the cent where people are you end up most people will just move [17:23] over to the new thing. Is there a difference so in the time that has [17:30] been elapsed on this world. This world's been going for 18 months, is that right? [17:36] Something very close to that, yeah. [17:39] How long did Chetcraft go before it moved mainly to Chetcraft? Because people have been here [17:47] a long time and done a great deal of stuff here and the feel very attached to it. [17:59] Okay, Blender said, uh, quite a while. He's not sure the exact time frame. [18:04] Um, that might be something that we'll get in a post. By the way, after this is done, [18:08] we will be posting the audio on the forum and anybody who was not available to comment [18:15] at the time that we were recording this will be able to comment and we'll talk back and forth. [18:19] So the discussion won't be over when the discussion's over. [18:25] Um, we can bring up another aspect of this, uh, speaking of spreading out, uh, that [18:31] is one of our favorite topics from past podcasts, uh, stargates. [18:37] Um, is there, um, [18:39] the general idea that we've been discussing on the forum for the last week or two [18:44] here is we would have central cities [18:49] when you first walked in that would, [18:54] you know, be linked altogether through a stargate system. Um, van, [18:58] Do you have any information on what status we're at with the Stargates? [19:05] Do we have it installed, the plugin, or what exactly is going on? [19:08] Yeah, it's installed and there's actually a working Stargate in the lobby that we use to get to other, you know, like, chatcraft worlds. [19:18] So they're on the server, they're working. [19:21] And if we did go with my proposal with the five different cities, it would be... [19:28] Yeah, there's a discussion that needs to be held between the mods and how to implement Stargates. [19:37] When will that discussion take place? I have no idea. [19:41] But if the community comes to the mods with this unified idea of, hey, [19:46] let's we want a brand new survival world linked with Stargates, [19:51] I think it would force the mods to have that discussion. [19:55] Yes. Now, one of the questions with this new survival world, and I apologize, I'm going [20:05] back and forth between some people who are not in the mumble who are on regular Minecraft [20:11] chat trying to make sure we're addressing everything here. Would we be transferring our items [20:18] and money over or do you guys in here think that we should not be able to transfer anything [20:26] and start from fresh, zeroed out everything, everybody across the board, or how would you [20:32] guys like to see it actually implemented? [20:39] Personally, I would want a clean slate if you're going to go with New World. I mean, [20:45] I've got tons of crap, and I have large areas and whatnot, but I don't care. I personally, [20:52] if we're going to do a New World, transferring money or transferring stuff still doesn't [20:57] fix the debacle that happened earlier this week if people are holding out not being honest. [21:01] Yeah, I think I agree with you, Rage [21:23] Okay, I'm reading some of the text comments here in Mumble. [21:35] Toronto Mario says, I think some of the issue with moving is some people put like a year [21:40] into their builds moving trashes at all. [21:43] I agree that if we did move to a full survival map it would completely negate that. [21:50] And that was one of the points that I brought up a little earlier was what would we transfer [21:55] and what wouldn't we transfer. [21:57] I mean, it's not our place to say, and it's not fair to ask the mods to say, oh well, [22:07] this 2x2 shack is not transferable, but the aqua dome is. [22:14] That's kind of a rough place to put them in. [22:17] I think that we would all need to come up with a set rule, and it would be really hard [22:28] to come up with that. [22:29] That's something that we'd probably need to sit down and discuss in the forum before [22:32] we go to the mods and say, hey, this is what we want to do. [22:36] Frankly, the thing that I would, you know, Blender just commented again about how, you [22:42] know, that's the problem with transferring anything is that it always is going to present [22:45] a problem no matter how significant some people think certain things are. Other people are [22:49] going to think their stuff is significant even if it is just you know a cobble box they [22:54] think it's significant. And I feel like if we would start on a new world giving giving [23:00] people that you know mayors and whatnot the ability to go in and design certain aspects [23:06] and I think that it would you wouldn't necessarily need to move builds over. You could try to [23:12] just replicate builds and maybe to put some new twists on it or something to [23:17] make it a little different I don't know but I feel like the clean slate it you [23:21] kind of have to do it otherwise it looks like you're playing favoritism towards [23:25] certain people in certain builds over other people in their builds I agree and [23:33] that that's similar to this concern that I just mentioned was similar to what [23:37] blender just said in chat that's the biggest problem with moving no matter [23:41] what there's going to be stuff not transferred that will cause problems. [23:47] That's the biggest issue with this. [23:48] No matter what we do, there is going to be somebody in the community that's not happy [23:56] with the move, not happy with the solution. [23:59] I don't think we can have a 100%. [24:02] Everybody's happy. [24:03] I think we're going to have to come up with something that we all lose a little. [24:09] I might lose post-it cello, I might lose the aqua dome, I might lose what little bit of [24:15] money I have left because timber keeps getting my money. [24:20] We're all going to lose a little something, but I think what we gain in the long run is [24:26] a better planned out community that has the new biomes and has the new items and has [24:32] everything else that will let us continue for another year and a half. [24:38] I think I think that the begin mentioned this in the chat and this is something that I think would [24:44] Help people in the beginning is that right now everybody, you know [24:49] When they come into the server for the first time everybody gets 300 coins [24:53] And I feel like if maybe all the people that are previously players on [24:58] You know this version of twitcraft if you get a a bonus because you've moved over to the new world [25:04] and keep the economy the same thing though, but everybody that's new that comes in after with the move would get 300 [25:12] but everybody that existing, you know, would get like five grand or something because of [25:17] the fact that they've been, you know, playing and supporting the server. [25:20] I think that sounds like a fair thing to do. [25:33] I like the idea of people who've been here a long time having a little bonus. I like that. [25:38] You could do some sort of time breakdown too like when the person originally played or something [25:45] Okay [25:46] Dragon said that she had something that she wanted to say before we continue with with that though [25:52] Could someone volunteer real quick to help me out here? [25:55] I need somebody to keep an eye on the Minecraft chat [25:59] You know the regular in-game chat because pixis and a few other players are saying things and I'm missing [26:04] comments that they're making and I'd like to just have somebody who has a microphone step in and say, [26:09] oh, so-and-so said this real quick. [26:13] I'll keep an eye on it. [26:14] Thank you. [26:15] Major things on the point of like on the reset, maybe if we keep, I think most people on bills, if we keep like the current survival [26:25] available for people just to view the stuff and not [26:28] have to worry that if we're going to go to a new survivor world that the world stuff will be instantly deleted, [26:33] will probably calm most people's nerves. [26:35] And yeah, that's what I suggested, but let's get with Dragon. [26:40] Dragon, you had something you wanted to say? [26:42] Yes. [26:45] What I was really trying to say with the bring 5-10k over, maybe even less, is that having [26:52] people that spent a lot of time, a lot of dedication, a lot of hard work getting their [26:57] money and supplies up, they're going to lose... [27:00] If we decide this, they're going to lose their inventory and a majority of their money and [27:04] they're going to end up at the exact same point as the person that has not put any work [27:11] in, has not put the effort in and just joins in the server, complains about not having [27:17] anything and they're going to end up at the same point. [27:21] People that work hard can probably get that money back up soon, but it's just a good [27:25] not buffer, but transition to have some of the money, don't have all the money, part [27:33] of it, brought over to the next server to help them just get started. [27:38] Yes, that's something that we've actually talked here in Mumble, you know, not officially [27:46] as well, about. [27:49] I think the cap should be higher than 5 to 10,000 myself because look at players like [27:56] Freon. [27:57] Freon, I don't know what he's at right now, but I know he was close to 200k. [28:04] And you know, Tembur and other players, they have a lot of money and saying to them, oh, [28:08] you can only take 10 of it is going to be very contentious with them. [28:17] And honestly, I understand because they spent a lot of time and effort in building up that [28:21] stockpile of cash. [28:22] I would prefer to have the limit be somewhere around 50 to 100k personally. [28:32] That to me, I think, would be, yes, it's a lot of coin, but it also compensates them [28:40] a bit. [28:41] At least they're able to take half to a third of what they had. [28:49] And real quick here, I'm sorry, I'm looking at some of the things that were mentioned [28:53] here in chat. [28:55] 5merg, hopefully I pronounced that correctly, says, I think that we could whitelist people [29:02] that are trusted and good builders to maybe build the new spawn. [29:06] That was actually something we were talking about. [29:08] If this map, if we do go with this, it wouldn't be an immediate, you know, flip of the switch. [29:13] We're all going today. [29:15] It would be, okay, we've generated this map. [29:18] We're going to have a set number of players, you know, moderators and players that are [29:23] on the game frequently go through the map a little bit, say, yeah, this looks like a [29:27] pretty good map. [29:28] Let's go with it. [29:30] We'll find a good spawn site, build, I've been calling it Neo Leoville, but we can [29:35] call it whatever, you know, build a new Leoville, then look for a couple other spots for the [29:42] other spawn cities, which actually brings up another topic I need to mention in a minute [29:47] that Timber had mentioned. But anyway, we would have a few spawn cities, we would build up [29:55] those spawns, and then players would be able to use the Stargates to go to whichever city [30:00] they wanted to go to and build from there. [30:10] May I make a point on the money thing? [30:13] Sure, go for it. [30:17] If we were to start with a clean slate, I think bringing over a percentage of money probably would not help with building a new economy for other players. [30:30] Like we'd still have these players with a high amount of cash or their cash still carried over. [30:36] And I'm thinking maybe to help get the economy started for other players, you could fall like maybe the first month or so of the new map. [30:45] we'd raise the daily allowance that the ATM gives to about 100 or 200 maybe and [30:51] Have the twit mark set up immediately and you know things to get the economy started again after reset [31:00] Five murder agrees with you and I I don't think that the ATM fee needs to be increased [31:06] But I think twitmart and everything needs to be established before you just cut players loose on the server [31:12] The reason I don't think it needs to be increased is because honestly, [31:16] Twitmart is in the, or I'm sorry, the ATM. [31:18] The ATM is not where you're going to be making the majority of your money ever. [31:23] It's not supposed to be. [31:24] It's just supposed to be a little bit of cash to, you know, keep you going. [31:27] Your major money is going to come from mining, making your own tools, stuff like that. [31:34] Now, I did have another idea that I think I'll have to talk to some players about, [31:40] but maybe we could create a player bank somehow [31:44] and then they would be able to bring more of their money over [31:48] and use that to fund projects maybe uh... have twitmark sell [31:54] more building blocks [31:56] and [31:58] you could start a loan [32:00] the player bank [32:02] to buy those blocks and then have to pay the loan back [32:09] so it's alright [32:10] let me jump in on that too [32:12] You know, I just had this idea in my head that if all that's going to be carried over [32:18] is money, then the next few months is just going to see a huge run. [32:23] Everybody trying to undercut each other, making as much money as possible to carry over with [32:27] them to the new server. [32:33] Yep. [32:34] That's true. [32:38] But at the same time, if you say, well, nothing is coming over at all, then this is what will [32:44] happen for the next month, that's dead silence. Nobody will do anything because they know [32:52] that nothing is coming over with them. Let me think about that for a minute. Does anybody [33:06] else have any thoughts on it? [33:08] Well, if I bring up Pixel who was saying about horses and pets, about transferring them over, [33:15] I'm guessing that probably won't be able to be transferred. If you're not going to transfer [33:19] any sort of items then animals and things will probably not be transferred either. [33:28] I don't know the specifics about it and unfortunately KJ's not here to explain but I think there's [33:35] some limitations on how animals transfer over and I don't think we would be able to [33:41] do that. Also Van your mic's open. [33:48] That's right. [33:51] Yeah, I know there's some limitations to how mobs can go through portals and everything [34:00] else, so I don't think they would be able to transfer your exact horse with your exact [34:05] stats to the new server. [34:10] Same goes with villagers, right? [34:14] Yeah. [34:15] Yes, villagers as well. [34:16] Sounds again. [34:25] Can I jump in on another point? [34:27] Something I wanted to bring up before. [34:29] I mean, I guess everybody at some point feels like they're on the outside. [34:35] Is there any idea if we give these mayors early access and in a sense we give them complete [34:40] control over inviting people to come help and then rewarding those people later? [34:46] Is it just going to be on their honor or are we going to enforce some level of fairness [34:50] in who gets to assist and then get a place in the new communities? [34:56] Well that brings up what I was wanting to talk about eventually [35:00] The idea that timber had was that we would basically start out with a smaller map than what we have right now [35:08] start at maybe three thousand blocks in each direction from zero zero and [35:14] What you would do is is you would have only two or three established towns, so you would have the new Leoville or [35:22] you know, whatever we're gonna call it and [35:24] And then another one or two towns away, maybe even three. [35:30] Actually, I think he originally said it would be four total, [35:33] the Nublioville and three other towns. [35:35] And then those towns would be run by the three mayors. [35:42] You bring up a good point about how you would appoint the mayors. [35:46] Some of it, I mean, if you go off just a rewarding players who have been [35:53] on the server longer, that you're right, that will come across as very unfair. [35:59] I don't have an answer for you to be honest, I'm just a player like you guys. [36:04] Does anybody else here have an opinion on the subject? [36:07] I think they could be... [36:11] I'm sorry, who was talking first? [36:13] Was it a Dragon D4? [36:14] I couldn't tell, was somebody up further on the list? [36:18] I said can we run an election possibly. [36:23] I don't have a problem with that personally. [36:25] Yeah. [36:26] As some show, I mean, generally the players that have been on here the longest and are generally still on the server [36:33] still contributing to it are probably the mayors who most likely will be picked. [36:39] I mean, there are like, many, I mean like, poster and the aquedome is a massive build, there's some massive projects and community [36:52] who have all, people who've already shown they are good community leaders who even if [36:57] you did an election will most likely will be picked because we all trust them already. [37:01] Yeah, I agree. [37:05] Sorry. [37:06] I agree. [37:07] Because it would be most likely that we would know who would become mayor because you vote [37:13] for the ones you know, but it would stop that idea of well, he got picked because he [37:18] was a mod favorite or something like that. [37:20] Yeah, that is probably the major concern that people have is fairness over like, oh, he was the mod to know him, [37:27] he's fairness and an election would give especially the appearance that it has been picked fairly. [37:35] I think we need to know who would be willing to stand as Mayor. [37:40] You know, there may be only a limited number of people who would put themselves forward as Mayor, and then after that a vote. [37:49] precisely what I was about to interrupt you and I apologize to say. [37:53] I think that if you put down, and this would have to be something that would come from [37:58] the mods, van and blender, you guys would have to come up with this is what we expect [38:05] from the mayors and it wouldn't necessarily be coin donations or whatever to be destroyed. [38:12] It would be actual maintenance and running and everything and the responsibilities that [38:19] those mayors would have. [38:22] And if you put that up on the forum, not everybody's going to say no, but a handful would. [38:29] And then make sure that they understand that if they do negate on their duties, whatever, [38:39] There will be consequences for it, nothing to banning or anything, but there would be [38:45] some consequence to not adhering to what you agreed to do. [38:50] I think that would impress upon some of the players that wouldn't be as serious about [38:55] it to not do it. [38:58] I think that one thing just to hit on this real quick, I know that a lot of people are [39:04] very familiar with how Sky5 was ran from back in the day. [39:08] It was, Azimoth was the guy that ran it and Toronto Mario was the vice president of it [39:16] or whatever. [39:17] So it was, it's something that, that, you know, it's something that you could do that as [39:24] well. [39:25] You could have multiple people in charge of an area or a chain of command that could [39:28] be worked with. [39:29] Yeah, it's, I think being a med ends up being quite a large commitment on one person and [39:37] probably end up having at least a couple of people who will be in charge of each area just because [39:43] if one person is not available for so much amount of time, I mean we all have our own lives and [39:49] different things can come up in there that you will have some sort of like shared responsibility [39:54] over a couple of players per area. Also just a quick reminder to everybody if you have text to [40:02] speech turned on please turn it off it'll distract you. Dragon brought up something that I had [40:11] mentioned yesterday as a part of the elections, that was how I personally wanted to run if [40:18] I were mayor, how I wanted to run a city. [40:21] It was basically you would have me, like use me as an example, you would have me start [40:28] out as a mayor and every three, four months there would be an election and the townsfolk [40:36] would decide if they wanted to keep me as mayor or not. [40:39] As long as I had somebody else running against me, they could vote for the other person. [40:46] The other thing I said was we would need like a lieutenant mayor and we would also need [40:52] to have one or two councilmen to kind of keep things running and vote on projects and stuff [40:57] like that and help gather supplies, all of that. [41:00] And again, those would be voted on every three, four months. [41:04] And in the case, the mayor, myself, let's say I rage quit and never come back again, [41:09] The Lieutenant Mayor, after a set period of time, could step up and take my place and [41:14] then everybody would be bumped up and we would vote on a new councilman. [41:18] The only thing that's kind of different about that is I don't think certain players would [41:25] be willing to move if they don't have control over their city. [41:32] I think that for a mayor, if you have a city that's run by a vote like what I just described, [41:41] yes, having a mayor election, mayoral election every three, four months is perfectly fine. [41:47] But in the case of like, Tembur, when we were talking with Tembur yesterday, he didn't want [41:51] to lose access to the Citadel because that's basically his main home. [41:58] I understand that if he turned that into a city hall for a city that he was building, [42:04] and he was voted out, he wouldn't be able to stay in his home anymore. [42:08] Now the solution that I gave to him today was have something similar to Britain where [42:13] it's a constitutional monarchy, where if in the chance he was voted out as mayor, [42:19] he was still technically the king and he could live in that house still, but the mayor [42:26] would then move into the apartment that he has in Citadel currently set up for [42:33] Was it robro who's living in there? I can't remember who was living in there specifically [42:39] Where the Citadel at? [42:42] The Citadel the apartment that he has in the city on and free on okay. That's what I couldn't remember who was sorry [42:49] Five merge you say that would not be good. Could you elaborate a little bit in the meantime while he's typing? [42:57] Does anybody else have any ideas? [43:00] To me, I think that the initial vote for who should be the mayor of the three towns is a [43:08] good idea. [43:10] Long run, I think once that person is established as a mayor, it's up to them how they want [43:15] to run the town. [43:16] Also, this is all hypotheticals. [43:22] This is not a decided thing as far as like that. [43:24] You're even going to have mayors of towns on a new server. [43:28] is all very hypothetical down from the road types though. [43:33] Okay, what Blender is saying is I think if we do it try not to let them think that they're [43:39] transferred build a city hall it's more of a landmark and they keep that landmark regardless. [43:45] So in the case of like what I said with the Citadel, Timbers Citadel would be transferred [43:51] and yeah that could be the central point of the city but there would be a separate [43:57] city hall build or whatever for running the city hall or city management rather [44:02] okay I'm sorry go ahead actually he raises a good point there and I actually I [44:13] think that is the better approach because it avoids some of the problems [44:17] you were talking about with people fearing getting kicked out and worry [44:22] agree I agree I think I think the personal bill should be regarded as [44:26] their personal build but the Mayor's official residence should change from Mayor to Mayor [44:35] if there's a re-election. [44:40] While 5MURG actually, some of that I'll mention in a minute, some of that would be moot, the [44:47] unfairness to new players who join and couldn't be Mayor or whatever. Some of that would be [44:52] moot for what I'll talk about in a minute because I left out part of what Timber's [44:56] border plan was, but also in addition, to me, it's unfair to new players, there's a certain [45:08] point where it's like, well then we can't play the game, because the fact that I have [45:13] five diamond blocks is unfair to a new player who doesn't have five diamond blocks. [45:18] So what do we have to do, give him five diamond blocks? [45:23] There's a point where it's like, okay, we have to say, you know, you're new. [45:28] Just like when you're born, you don't immediately become president of the United States if you're [45:31] in the US or whatever. [45:34] You have to pay your dues, build up and eventually get there. [45:39] Right. [45:40] And the point of it being unfair is, well, how fair is it that the mayor has so much [45:45] responsibility in actually building up the city and making sure it's run properly? [45:50] that responsibility is, or the benefit of having those responsibilities is being able [45:57] to live where you want to live or have your build moved over. Because these mayors are [46:02] going to have a ton of responsibility in setting up those cities. So we need to provide a benefit [46:08] for them. [46:10] Not just setting up, but maintaining. That's a big thing. You are going to be, if you [46:14] are a mayor, you are going to be responsible for keeping things up day to day. You're [46:19] You're going to have to walk around the town, make sure stuff hasn't been grieved. [46:23] You're going to have to make sure your roads aren't messed up. [46:26] If somebody's building a new house and you have building rules like, you know, oh, only [46:30] modern homes or something like that, and somebody's building a cobblestone box, you're going [46:36] to have to go talk to that player and say, hey, these are the rules we're building here. [46:39] You need to change this. [46:40] I'll be glad to help you. [46:42] You know, I'll get you some supplies. [46:43] We'll work out design, stuff like that. [46:46] But it's responsibility. [46:47] It's not going to be just ho-hum, I'm a mayor, you know, this is the king of the dirt heap. [46:52] Yeah, and if you are one of those bad mayors, no one's going to want to live in your, or [46:56] live in and around your city. [46:58] Precisely. [46:59] Plus, also, you have to take into consideration how, how are you defining a new player? [47:05] I mean, I've only been on for about a year, so am I still considered a new player? [47:09] The other thing with that is also... [47:11] No, you're not. [47:12] Players have to prove themselves that they're worthy and capable. [47:17] So somebody who's only been on for a month isn't necessarily going to be accepted by [47:22] the other players in that town to be the mayor. [47:25] Yeah, you're not a new player, SW. [47:28] You've been on for a year. [47:29] The server's only been up for a year and a half. [47:32] A new player that most people are referring to is somebody who has been on for maybe [47:37] a month and is walking around saying, can I has op? [47:42] It's something like that. [47:43] And of course there are, you can always say also, there's old, very old players that may not also be considered as mers because of certain actions they've done in the past. [47:53] I mean it's not new player or old players, it's generally your actions you've done on the server. [48:00] To bring up, I've forgotten the name, but people, couple of points, we're talking so much about these new cities. [48:08] There is, we are definitely saying there are still going to be plenty of opportunities to build outside the cities. [48:16] We're just talking about more destructions than having one Leaville, having a couple of ones, but then you can also build your own thing, be your own loner, or just a single person building outside the city and do your own thing in the wilderness, so to speak. [48:31] Yeah, I yes, I did gloss over that didn't really discuss it. [48:38] You're still going to be able to go build out in the wilderness. [48:41] If you want to build your tower out in the wild on your own, knock yourself out. [48:45] That's not going to be a big deal. [48:49] You're going to build what you want if you want to build far away. [48:52] This is going to be like if you want to have a house near a store so that when you're [48:57] at your house you can run to the store grab an item you need and it's close to your deathbed [49:02] you know all that stuff it's going to make it easier because it's going to spread out [49:09] the number of stores like that and imagine having something like Zonti's with his SGS [49:16] you can have an SGS outlet in every city and it'll have the main items you're looking [49:23] for and all the chests will be linked. You'll have stuff like that where players will start [49:29] a larger shop and have branches at all the different cities. So it's just a convenience [49:35] thing to live in the city. Yeah, you got to put up with these rules where you got to build [49:40] a certain way or whatever. But hey, the mayor and the people in the town are cool. They'll [49:44] bring you stuff. They'll help you out. [49:46] And let me just highlight something that blender just said in chat. The multiple cities [49:50] is also to help to get to more distant areas on the map. So it's easier to get to find [49:56] willingness to build on and not have to trudge, you know, thousands of blocks like you do [50:02] today. [50:03] Yes, that actually reminds me of the next point I wanted to bring up on this topic. [50:09] The other part of what Timber had suggested was that after every new update where let's [50:16] say in a future build, you know, like 1.9, for example, they add something to one of [50:25] the biomes or they add a new mineral or something else. [50:29] You would then be able to expand the border out about a thousand blocks and that would [50:34] add new land. [50:35] You would have new land for a new city. [50:37] You would have new land for, you know, your big tower or whatever you needed. [50:42] you would be able to generate more chunks further out. [50:47] So it's not that the map would stay at 3,000. [50:49] Well, actually it would be 6,000 by 6,000 total. [50:53] It's not that it would stay at that forever. [50:56] It would roll out slowly with future updates. [50:59] So it would give us room to expand without having major problems. [51:04] It also helped bring in like if Mojang releases a new update that adds more [51:11] fortresses or you know temples that'll bring that into the survival world as [51:17] well. Yes because right now you're having to go over into resource to find jungle [51:22] temples and desert temples and emeralds because you can't get them here. This [51:28] would alleviate some of that not all of it but some of it. Robroad did you [51:33] notice anything else that needs to be brought up from the endgame chat? One question just to clarify [51:40] and make sure it's given to the people listening is, mayors in the city, what special privileges [51:49] do they have? Is it just the fact that they have early access and build or in later times do you have [51:56] any sort of command, maybe access to prisms so that they can do their own? Just with prison, [52:02] just to check who what people do to bit like mod checking so that reveal so that they we can [52:09] reveal the stress of the moderators so they do not come into constantly find griefers and we can [52:17] sort of say here's the griefer here's the evidence and you just have the moderators let them ban. [52:28] I think that's a question that one of the moderators needs to answer. [52:32] I mean that could be brought up in a discussion with the mods sure. [52:34] I don't know if that would happen really. I mean, any of the powers that they would be given would be handed down from the moderators. So that's something that they once we came up with a proposal and presented it to the moderators, the moderators would then have to decide what level of access those mayors would have. [53:00] Right, the main benefit would be to be able to build in a spawn city, right? [53:07] And have your vision be what new players experience, right? [53:13] And also your vision of how the town should be run, how the builds around it. [53:20] Because let's face it, that's a big problem that everybody complains about. [53:23] You build your fancy schmancy house and then some guy comes on, builds, you know, [53:29] a four by four box and then leaves right next to your house. [53:34] This would mitigate some of that because you could say, no, [53:36] if you're going to build in this area, [53:38] you need to do this and you need to build to this method. [53:42] If you don't, then you're violating the rules for that town. [53:46] We'll have to get with you. [53:48] Try to see if you're agreeable with removing it or fixing it. [53:51] If you're not, then we can go to a moderator and say, Hey, [53:54] this is what's going on. These are the rules. I explained it to him. [53:57] He's not being agreeable. You know, how can we proceed that's similar to the way like the [54:10] Flea market works [54:14] Precisely it is it's an expansion of that really [54:18] Well [54:19] Well, I don't know for a second. Sorry what somebody's actually [54:23] Praising the flea market. Well, no kidding [54:26] Once in a while it happens [54:28] It's the shiny turd [54:30] It is. [54:31] And the e-mail has actually been useful for me anyway. [54:34] flea market has gone through many stages of function and use and people making money on [54:39] it and then it becomes nothing. [54:41] It seems to work well for me right now. [54:46] Working well for me too. [54:50] It's working well right now is all I'm going to say. [54:53] It's working well right now. [54:58] But I mean, did anybody else have any other suggestions for this? [55:03] I think the main thing we need to do is we need to come up with a single plan that everybody [55:12] can agree to. [55:13] It may not be what you want, but we all agree to abide by it and then present it to the [55:21] mods and say, hey, this is our idea. [55:24] Now that being said, there may be a couple of players that don't even agree to it at [55:29] all. [55:30] And I don't know, I think that as long as we get a consensus and present it. [55:37] I think one plan and a majority decision, I mean it's never going to be what every person [55:42] wants to happen. [55:43] Yes. [55:44] But if we can consolidate all the different ideas we're having into one single plan and [55:50] that the majority of TrickCraft people can say, okay, I agree with this, this is, I do [55:56] have I put my support behind this idea then we can submit it to the mods and we can see how it plays [56:03] out from there. Precisely. Did anybody else have anything they wanted to add or did they have any [56:12] of their own suggestions that they would like to voice? I listened to what we did about the New [56:18] Mass, it's in a complete restart and so on. I still quite like my idea of having the original [56:24] world as it is now with a similar sized piece put onto one side and the border moderated [56:33] as a group project, as a world project for everyone to take part in. I like that idea [56:40] but I am growing on the mare cities and the new start. I mean for my sake the builds I [56:48] do are not transferable because they're all internal to the landscape so it would not [56:54] be possible for me to take my bills with me and I've accepted that and I don't mind starting [56:58] from scratch. It's a good challenge to do that and to maybe do it better next time. [57:04] I would like to have a similar piece of land to the one I have now, if that's possible. [57:12] And I think, you know, some people like the jungle, some people like mountains, some [57:17] people like the flatlands. I personally like the extreme hills and I would like another [57:23] the piece. Would it be possible for us in this current plan that we've just discussed, [57:29] which seems to be the majority at the moment, would it be possible for us to be able to [57:35] say, please can I have a piece of land like the one I have now? [57:42] I wouldn't say necessarily please can I have. It would be more of a once a map seed was [57:49] found that we liked and we were going with it, you would be able to go in and then walk [57:57] around and try to find something like that. [58:00] You'd have to do some exploring, but you could walk around, see if you found another land. [58:07] I guarantee there's going to be an extreme hills that look similar, maybe not exactly, [58:14] but similar that you could then modify from there. [58:17] That area that you're building in looks a lot like an area that I built a city in on [58:21] another server, and I've mentioned that to you before. [58:23] I really like that area, and I've seen it similar on other maps, so I'm sure there's [58:29] somewhere that's like that. [58:30] If we had stargates, it would be great, because then you wouldn't have to worry about, oh, [58:36] I'm 2,500 blocks from spawn, nobody's gonna come out here to live here, or, oh, it's [58:45] pain in the butt to get back to spawn to get stuff because you'll have the stargate you can just hop [58:49] right in and go wherever. Yeah I'm thinking not just for myself personally but other people also [58:55] like the type of land they have and you know it would be nice to know that we could perhaps go [59:02] and find something similar. One thing I'll just bring up I mean the only thing I can have [59:09] have semi-considered of starting a new map with the number of players we have is a sort [59:14] of like, a, to allow access to everyone that's, who wants to build, not in the cities but [59:21] in their own land, is some sort of massive go get out and everyone runs out and then starts [59:26] fencing off massive chunks for their own projects. But that's more of a just a semantic issue [59:34] rather than it probably will not be able, it's just going to happen. [59:38] There's probably no way to stop it. [59:40] Yeah, there will be a gold rush, so to speak, for land. [59:44] As long as it's an announced date and not like some are randomly picked time when Curly [59:49] decides to open the server, I don't many people would have an issue with it because as long [59:54] as you can plan, it's like, okay, I'm not going to be available. [59:57] Can you, A, go and find me a place that's like this so that I can have something? [60:03] One thing about this potential new world would be, okay, say me, for example, I don't want [60:12] to be a mayor. [60:13] I don't want the responsibility. [60:14] Running the park sucks. [60:16] So I want nothing to do with that. [60:19] However, I would like to have a Stargate. [60:21] Would a Stargate be purchasable with funds that you would acquire through means on the [60:27] server? [60:29] I think Asimov had an idea where, and if you've read his post, he had an idea where we'd have [60:35] Stargate slinking cities, but there would be an option to purchase multiverse portals [60:42] to get quickly to your village in the middle of nowhere or whatever, or to the Aqua Dome. [60:49] That was his idea. [60:51] So yeah, there might still be an opportunity to purchase portals to get to your village [60:58] or whatever. [60:59] I would say if that's the approach that's taken, they should be difficult to obtain [61:09] but not impossible for most players. [61:14] They might, they'll have to work to get enough money or some other resource, whatever the [61:19] currency is that you use to purchase this thing. [61:22] should be able to get to it with some effort but not have to work toil for a [61:29] year in order to build up the funds to do it. [61:33] Dragons throwing a couple things out do you want to speak up Dragon or would you [61:40] like for one of us to just cover it? [61:42] I can say it. You guys all know the Nether Row project I'm working on. [61:49] That will always be free. I would like donations, but whatever, I can get stuff myself. [61:55] Just screw around another little bit. I can get the stuff. I'll build it for you. Just give me the coordinates of your portal. [62:01] So it's not as fast as Stargate, but it's faster than walking or taking a rail. [62:06] So for people that don't have the funds to get their own multi-force portal, then just call me. [62:16] make it. Yeah. [62:21] I think that would be a quote unquote poor man's method of [62:26] getting around it. And then if you did something like that, and [62:30] that's what we've talked about in the past with our our portal [62:34] comments is that the if we did have the stargates rather, I'm [62:41] sorry, we would make them very expensive to purchase. [62:48] And I think that that's another way where someone like Freon, who I noticed joined, you know, somebody who's got a lot of money and likes to build far from the main quote unquote spawn area, that would be somewhere where maybe instead of saying, okay, you can only transfer X amount of coins, maybe say, hey, for this amount of coins, [63:10] let you transfer over this this set of coins and will also give you a stargate directly to your [63:16] build without you being declared a mayor or whatever. So I would discourage the idea of [63:21] selling stargates. Dragon just mentioned it. If we did that the dials would get cluttered. [63:28] So that's something we want to avoid and we want to keep people going to the cities not to [63:34] someone's random project. That's why I think that if you would do that would [63:39] would you be agreeable to that if the amount to purchase a Stargate was in the [63:46] hundred hundred fifty thousand not even then? I think maybe criteria for what a [63:52] why you would have a Stargate placed for that area make that criteria quite [63:58] Pacific and and the expensive costs associated with it. So if someone wants [64:04] to build their own city that's in difference to the other places, other [64:12] towns we build and they can acquire then you could then get Stargate for that project. [64:18] Someone who is more familiar with the Stargate plugin could you guys real [64:24] quick just explain exactly how it works with the dial because honestly I don't [64:29] know enough about it to know what you guys are talking about. So it's a sign [64:33] right it's a sign on a Stargate and you use your your mouse to click it to get [64:40] to the destination you want so every click you do it changes destination so [64:45] you could have five for each city right if we start selling them there's a [64:50] possibility there is going to be 20. You're going to have to click it 20 times to get [64:56] to the destination you want. [65:02] That's why I think the limited number of Stargates with the purchasable multiverse portals is [65:08] actually the better route to go. Because then it forces that hubid spoke model so that [65:13] you're not crowding the Stargates but you can still quickly get somewhere through a few [65:18] jumps. [65:19] Yep, I [65:21] Apologize. I just had technical difficulties in my headset disconnected real quick. I'll try not to rehash everything that van just said [65:30] Would you be able to have a central station like when you first spawn in for the first time on the server that had multiple [65:40] Stargates in a room and you could go into whichever one you wanted to go into to get to the point that you needed to [65:45] get to like how a city stargate and then have a [65:51] Yeah, have like a circular room that you walk into and you look around the room and it's all the main cities go downstairs and there's all the sub portals or stargates whatever that were purchased by with the exorbitant amount of coin to create. [66:10] I mean we can do that all with just the multiverse portals that we'll just allow. [66:20] Instead of having Stargates, which is the way you click a sign and it will sort of rotate round to [66:28] the city, you could just have a smoke model where you just go through a multiverse portal to [66:33] the city rather than, because what will end up happening is people who are unfamiliar with the [66:39] idea of Stargates will just, you still might end up having a Leoville-centric model because [66:45] the first city everyone will go into, it will be the first thing on the dial without them [66:50] realizing you can click it and go round to other cities. [66:54] Well, and that's the thing I missed, unfortunately. The dial, I'm assuming it's a control that's [66:59] next to a portal that you click in order to go to another location in the same portal. [67:06] Yeah. [67:07] Okay, so how many slots do you have on that dial? [67:13] I think it's unlimited, right? [67:15] It's unlimited, but then you have the problem of continuously clicking a sign to get to the place you want, [67:21] and then if it's not the place you might end up having to click and rotate round, which is not the best idea. [67:27] I think we would much prefer a portal room with different destinations listed, [67:35] and you can choose which portal to go into rather than having to sign and click and rotate round to. [67:41] Yeah, I think a full portal and the way I described it yesterday when we were talking about this [67:46] was have a sign, you know, have some signs next to it that say, hey, this is a town for new players. [67:54] We have, you know, little advertisements or brief descriptions with the name of the city [67:59] and what's on the other side of that portal, what you can expect to find. [68:03] And then that will help players decide. Okay. I want to go there or I want to go, you know somewhere else [68:10] That's why I think like for say the new the lobby where brand-new players get dumped at first time [68:17] You're probably better off with something more like portals where you can have the descriptions like poster was saying and then from city to city [68:25] Transportation that's where you have the stargates where you can pick your destination and walk in [68:29] Yeah, that sounds good. [68:31] Alright guys, we're getting to over an hour here. [68:35] I think we should probably wrap this up for now. [68:38] Our best bet would be to, once we post this, let's just add any other comments or suggestions [68:45] we have on the 1.7 potential map reset there. [68:52] And once we kind of get everything hammered out, maybe have a get together with a few [68:58] people who are interested to create a proposal draft, refine it a little bit and then say [69:06] hey mods this is what we're interested in doing. [69:09] Should we just simplify our discussion and say what we want now in the end of this podcast [69:16] while recording just so we can have a, instead of having all these ideas floating around and [69:21] just narrow down them into essentially a reasonably point what we decide. So if we... [69:29] I think that needs to be on the forum post, because like I said, we've gone [69:34] now we're almost at an hour, 10 minutes. Yeah. [69:38] Let's go ahead and just move on from here. It's an involved topic, and I do want other people who [69:44] are not able to do mic have an input on this as well. Let's just wrap this up. Do we have [69:52] any other comments or suggestions that we'd like to address general stuff, not necessarily [69:58] anything about what we've discussed already? [70:03] I think my question might border on between the two. I'll just say simply, what's the [70:09] consensus on using world downloader for keeping backups of our builds? [70:15] spine with me and I don't think the mods have any problem with it. Do you, man? [70:20] People already do that. [70:21] Okay, that's cool. Thank you. [70:24] Just the one thing I would say about it, it does put extra stress on the server, I believe. [70:29] So doing it right now, probably not the best idea when there's five people on it. [70:35] Yeah, that's a good goal. [70:38] Yeah, I think something like that, if it's allowed, it should be something that should [70:43] need to be coordinated with the mods so that you can limit the impact. [70:48] Yeah, I mean there's been lots of us that have used it to figure out lag problems from way back [70:54] in the day in the original version of SGS and the flea market. [71:02] All right, Dragon had something she wanted to say. [71:06] Yes, should we be doing the town hall as a monthly thing like last time or especially [71:12] with the major discussions about the resets and just everything going on right now. This [71:18] has already taken, what, an hour? [71:20] Yes, it's over an hour. Yeah, I mean, that's some... We have... I'm sorry, go ahead. I [71:25] apologize. [71:26] It's fine. We've already... We haven't even touched everything we want to touch on. So [71:30] should we be doing this once a month? Once every... Twice a month? Once a week? And [71:36] What I mean six o'clock [71:38] Bst seems to be good time, but maybe change it each week or find a better time that works [71:44] When should we be doing that's part of what we discussed when we first opened here? [71:48] I think the six o'clock time on Saturday evening is pretty agreed upon that. That's a good good time to have this the [71:58] Updates that we were doing previously in town halls [72:01] Probably needs to be pushed off onto its own podcast [72:04] where we can record in private without having a lot of input and everything just say, hey, [72:10] this is what I'm doing, hey, this is what I'm doing, and be done five, ten minutes. [72:16] The actual frequency that we should be doing this, I think we need to do it whenever there [72:22] is a big issue that needs to be discussed like this. [72:25] The 1.7 update was a big issue. [72:29] I don't know if we need to do that every month. [72:31] I think that maybe for now we should just say whenever there's a big issue, let's do [72:36] it. [72:37] And if we find that we're having big issues frequently enough, then we can start doing [72:41] it every month again. [72:44] I think part of the problem with this particular one is the fact that we haven't had a large [72:48] gathering like this in a while. [72:50] There's been some pent up frustrations and feedback that needed to get released. [72:58] I agree. [73:00] Merg just mentioned what time is that in other time zones. Warrior and I had a little friendly [73:06] debate earlier this evening about what time I meant and or Robrow meant. [73:11] I think we've got that sorted now. [73:13] Well, yeah, basically, basically, the British go with GMT. And that's Greenwich Mean Time. [73:22] and right now they're on BST so it basically adds an hour to their time. [73:29] And I said GMT in my messages and Robrow I think used GMT as well. What I meant [73:36] was UTC time so universal whatever I can't remember what UTC stands for. [73:43] UTC time would be would have been rather this evening 10 p.m. so for the British [73:51] that would have been 11 p.m. their time over here on this side of the pond it [73:55] would be six for Eastern time and so on from there I think that from here on out [74:02] we probably need to stick to something like that 10 o'clock UTC and just make [74:07] sure that people understand you know adjust for any daylight savings time [74:11] zone you may be in well just to bring up the thing that Vanden put it in the [74:17] chat and I'll stick it in the 4.1 post that I'll put up with this recording. There is [74:24] a good site called everytimezone.com that is a wonderful HTML5 page with all [74:30] most of the time zones and a nice scrubber to see which time zone the time [74:36] you've put in your own time zone is related to all the other time zones so [74:40] that's a nice easy lock up to find out what time zone people mean. Yeah just [74:45] include the link in the notes and that looks good. I'm looking at it right now. [74:49] All right, well, were there any other questions or suggestions that we needed to cover? [74:56] One thing that I feel like is something that we should do just because it's a good way [75:02] to accomplish this. Everybody seems to show up for these town hall type things. Not a [75:08] lot of people seem to want to read all of the posts on the forums and I feel like we [75:14] should, when this goes back to the forum discussion, we need to come up with whatever the plan is. [75:20] And then once we have something that appears to be similar, or what we're all agreeing to, [75:25] we need to represent the idea in a town hall style format so that everybody can hear it spoken [75:32] aloud instead of reading 17 different people's ideas and takes on it. [75:36] That's basically the plan that I mentioned, saying that there would be a draft that we would [75:40] go over before we presented it to the mods. So yes, that's fine. We can do it in a town hall instead of a forum post. I probably would still put it on the forum just so somebody could sit there and read it. But then we could, you know, all get together and discuss it. Was it were there any other questions or anything else to add? [76:00] I have a question. Has anybody got any idea when 1.7 will be implemented? [76:07] They have not officially announced it. I would guess probably sometime around the [76:14] beginning of November when MineCon comes in, but I don't think they've officially announced anything. [76:21] And how likely are we to follow rapidly or slowly on that implementation? Because the [76:29] The horses update took a long time because of all the various things that the mods had [76:33] to and currently had to deal with in order to implement it. [76:38] Is it likely to be the same sort of delay when 1.7 comes in? [76:42] So are we looking sort of in the new year? [76:44] I don't know if it'll be that long but you know that as the mods say every time it's [76:49] up to the plugin, the people who write the plugins that we use. [76:53] So it's up to them whenever the plugins that we use get updated all to 1.7 and have been [77:02] tested and verified because that was another problem where we switched over. [77:06] Not all of them had even been fully tested with the newest version. [77:10] So it's one of those things that it's hard to say just because it's all up to when they [77:20] update. [77:21] so we are looking at the new year really yeah close to it probably yeah right [77:27] okay just an idea well in November okay okay thank you anybody else have any [77:36] other questions or comments other things that will need to be brought up did you [77:46] have anything else that need to be brought up rage the man who invited me [77:51] that we were going over an hour 18 minutes ago. [77:54] I was trying to help. [77:56] I know that there's been some problems with the stables. [77:59] I didn't know if this is, you know, the dead horse figurative [78:02] literally that's in beaten or we should talk about that at all. [78:06] They know that it's an issue and, you know, there's not a lot [78:10] they can do about it right now. [78:11] I think it's a bug with the plug in this current version of the plug in. [78:14] Is it not been? [78:15] Yep, the plug in sucks, basically. [78:18] Yeah, there you go. [78:19] But it's better than nothing. [78:21] Yeah. [78:22] And honestly, I thought of a few things with the potential [78:27] reset that I forgot to mention. [78:28] But I'll bring that up in the post [78:31] that we have later this evening or tomorrow [78:33] or whenever Roborow gets it up. [78:36] Well, I think that's it. [78:37] Unless anybody else has anything they [78:38] would like to mention real quick, speak up now [78:40] or forever hold your peace. [78:43] Thanks for hosting. [78:45] Thanks for recording those videos. [78:47] and thanks for writing up who is going to do so thank you [78:51] yep not a problem at all thank you guys i appreciate uh... i like seeing the new [78:55] faces as well everybody [78:57] coming out here uh... thank you very much and i look forward to [79:02] doing this again maybe hosting maybe not don't know somebody just handed me a [79:06] lump of coal i guess that's my present for christmas [79:10] thank you very much and i look forward to seeing from you guys hearing and [79:13] seeing you guys soon [79:15] and I'll put this to a close.
