[00:00] Alright, Terry, you're doing the intro. [00:02] No, sir. [00:03] Yep, you're doing the intro. Let's go. [00:04] Screw it. I'm doing it. [00:05] No, no, okay. You know what? I'll do it this week then. [00:07] Okay then. [00:08] Okay, well you've done the three, that would be three weeks in a row. [00:10] Yeah, it's because we keep getting to the start and you're like, [00:12] who wants to do the intro? It's just the intro. Just start it. [00:14] There's gonna be so much bickering on this episode. [00:20] We're just so done with it. [00:22] It's the Twitcraft podcast episode four, the Town Hall episode for July 19th, 2012. [00:40] Wait, hold on. I should have started this off. [00:42] click click okay and this is I'm going to start five seconds if you don't start it screw you all [00:47] get started it's episode four four of the twitcraft podcast episode four of episode four of the [00:56] twitcraft podcast we're getting started well our town hall episode because curly is not here [01:01] yeah so this is this is a fun episode because uh one new thing that has happened to mc.twit.tv is [01:09] we now have a mumble server so to celebrate we're actually doing a community episode right [01:14] that's why we're doing it yeah it's also a fallback because Curly is also not responding [01:19] to anything how many hours have we been trying to get a hold of him uh like three I think [01:25] like yeah like I don't know it's been it's been a while and like I want to say to clean [01:29] my entire house the adventure that Curly whenever he wakes up from his drunken coma will go [01:35] on is I sent him a message on Skype. I sent him like five messages on Skype that said [01:42] to check his phone where I texted him five times to check his DMs where I DM'd him six [01:51] times to check Mumble where we are right now trying to record the podcast. So he's [02:01] going to go on some fun adventures when he wakes up. [02:04] Right. So anyone who wants to join the new Mumble server can download Mumble, [02:09] just Google it, and then enter into the server field, [02:13] mc.twit.tv and we have a whole bunch of rooms. I'm looking at them. [02:18] We got a discussion rooms. We have an AFK room. We have some events rooms. [02:23] We have other game rooms. [02:24] So if you want to use the server for other games like Left 4 Dead or Diablo [02:29] or wow or anything like that. [02:32] You can also use the server for that. [02:34] Just go ahead and join. [02:35] We have a, we have in the discussion rooms, [02:39] we have four discussion rooms, [02:40] and then the fourth one is an unfiltered room [02:42] that you can use when you, miners are not in the room [02:48] and you can cuss and whatever. [02:49] And all the other rooms are supposed to be safe for work [02:52] sort of atmosphere. [02:53] So that's what's going on with the Mumble server. [02:58] Yeah. [02:59] Exciting. So in this server with us, I'm just going to read down the list. We have Cheeto, [03:03] Cal girl, Curtis, iPod, parf, Linux, which, uh, you, uh, Nick flame me snowshoe T to T [03:10] to the rage, uh, vent, Ventus. How do you say your name? [03:14] Vontas. [03:15] Vontas. And that's how I see him. That how you say it. Vontas. Oh, he's muted. So I'm [03:21] asking a muted person a question. Um, so we're going to have a town hall episode where [03:26] For you guys, feel free to chime in. [03:29] If anyone wants to chime in, say hello. [03:34] We could start with iPod. [03:35] Hello? [03:36] Hi. [03:37] Hi. [03:38] Yeah, I'm the guy who can typically see breaking melons on my balcony in Twitchcraft. [03:43] And your skin is a rainbow man. [03:46] It's a rainbow with sunglasses. [03:48] Nice. [03:49] Linux switch, hello. [03:50] Hello. [03:51] Awesome. [03:52] Um, snowshoe, hello. [03:56] He too doesn't talk. [03:57] The rage hello? [03:58] Hello. [03:59] A ventus? [04:00] Oh god, you're muted and I can't say your username. [04:04] It's impossible. [04:05] Muted's not your name, screw you. [04:07] Yes, well now you're unmuted. [04:08] Say hello. [04:09] Hello, my name is Vantis. [04:11] Vantis? [04:12] Vantis? [04:13] Vantis. [04:14] I need to think of it like a praying mantis. [04:16] Vantis. [04:17] Praying vantis. [04:18] Praying vantis. [04:19] And then wizard's theme. [04:21] Hello. [04:22] Hi. [04:23] Cool. [04:24] So what I wanted to start off. [04:25] accent go. What accent? Yeah, exactly. Yeah. You're the one with the accent. Wait a second. [04:32] Where'd your accent go? You're the one with the accent, James. Oh, damn it. Yeah. Ha ha [04:37] ha. So let's start off with, uh, there was a little bit of a problem on the server. A [04:42] little bit of a problem. A little bit of a problem. So if you logged in and I actually [04:48] was logging in while it was happening where I logged in, oh wait, there's been two, [04:52] No, I'm thinking of last week's problem. [04:55] Last week's problem we had a problem where we had a hard drive thing. [05:00] Right. So we ran a hard drive space, but we cover that last week. [05:04] This week, we had a different problem where [05:08] using some of the mod tools that the mods have, we accidentally rolled back [05:12] the server nine days, everything on the server for the past nine days. [05:18] And then a little bit of a problem, a little bit of a problem. [05:21] You know, it is legitimately a mistake. [05:23] It's it was it was a it was a syntax error in a during a [05:28] moderate. Yeah. [05:30] People don't realize how how how important like just one word can be. [05:34] And like, you know, sometimes you forget a word and you roll back the entire server [05:37] for nine days. Absolutely. [05:39] So we undid that. [05:41] But the tool that rolled back the server is limited in the [05:45] capabilities that it can change. [05:48] So like, say if it changed blocks that were underneath torches [05:53] and then it replaced those blocks, torches won't be there and things like that. [05:59] There are some weird issues with it when it rolled back. [06:01] Slayers and then there's some redstone stuff is apparently messed up. [06:04] There's issues with buttons. [06:06] There's issues with stairs that face the wrong way. [06:10] There's just a bunch of issues. [06:12] Now, now, after that, like apparently right after that happened, [06:15] we got that cleared up. [06:17] There was another mistake made. [06:21] I didn't hear about this. [06:22] Which filled a large portion of an area with water. [06:29] And what all the water was? [06:30] And then after that happens, [06:33] how large? [06:33] There was a the person who accidentally did it, undid it. [06:39] And so then there was there was quite a bit more lag on the server just from that. [06:43] So the server was down for probably a good maybe four or five hours. I don't remember I [06:50] Miss one. Yeah, yeah, it was whenever I heard server issues. I was like, oh is that other thing? Yeah [06:55] No, it was it was it was the same kind of event eventful day. It was yeah [07:01] Water everywhere, but I assumed that that was because you know [07:04] Well, the blocks were destroyed on the water and then it stayed there because log block doesn't think about that stuff [07:10] It was just some weirdness [07:15] So yeah, so there's a there was I mean, there's a lot of issues. [07:19] Saplings and trees are kind of, you know, screwed up at the moment. [07:24] Stuff like that. Anyway, so we're working through those issues. [07:28] There's a month read about or a forum read about it. Right. [07:31] And this was written up in much more detail on the forum. [07:35] So please go to MC dot to a TV clip forums and read all about it. [07:40] And yeah. [07:41] And if you're having issues, you can put in a mod rack [07:44] or you can talk about it on the forum [07:46] and we'll get back with you. [07:47] We're absolutely sorry that we had these problems. [07:50] There's more internal discussion over what we can do [07:53] to if these problems happen in the future, [07:57] what we can do to fix them. [07:59] It's human error stuff. [08:00] I mean, we're a community run by humans. [08:04] Breaking news, the server's run by humans. [08:07] Yeah, sorry, it's not all robots. [08:09] Drink whiskey. [08:10] Absolutely. [08:11] It's [08:14] Sometimes right [08:16] Well, yeah, we don't all drink we don't know not all of us most of us [08:19] I mean we start you a few every once in a while sometimes I'm just cuz you know, absolutely [08:25] All the mod rex come in. I mean jeez. Yeah, it's yeah if you guys had any idea [08:31] Yeah, this is a white curd. Yeah, yeah [08:35] Okay, so all all you know problems aside man [08:38] Yeah, that's been two weeks in a row that we've had server issues. I didn't mean yeah [08:43] I didn't realize until I was like the problem that we had [08:51] Yeah, so we'll see so let's move on to [08:54] Next topic now this is time. Can I bring up something about the issue? No, we're [09:00] Yeah, is that it's fix some of the lag north of spawn. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah [09:05] Yeah, yeah north of saun is now lag free for some reason. Yeah. Yeah [09:11] There are tools that eliminate lag by updating the chunk and we could have none of those work [09:17] But because we did the rollback and updated no idea what it did [09:21] Like we don't know like it might have been a lighting thing [09:23] But I may be tried like relighting those chunks and everything like we have no idea but like frickin that [09:29] That frickin in the con mistake that for it's gone [09:33] It fixed Leoville like it fixed the lag in Leoville. Well, not all the time. I still get stuck there from time [09:40] You know a bad computer whatever. No, there are still pockets [09:43] There are still pockets and and I heard players in the vent or not in the mint in the mumble talking about [09:49] Where pockets are and trying to find those pockets? Okay, we're trying to you know [09:56] Like spawn like like as soon as you walk forward as soon as you get a spawn [10:00] And that was always the worst thing for me between the mall and town hall. [10:05] Yeah. And also I live next to there. [10:08] So I move in certain blocks on my house and I'm stuck. [10:11] Yeah, but not like, yeah, I'd always forget. [10:14] And then I'm like, oh, God, I and it takes like 10 minutes for me to do slash MDS. [10:19] Like, oh, yeah, I'd be taking like screen grabs of spawn. [10:23] I was like, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, possible. [10:27] Anyway, so the next, anything else, the community that wants to add anything? [10:34] Sounds good. [10:35] Awesome. [10:36] Moving on. [10:37] So I was talking to, I know him as Ryan, you guys know him as Lone Wolf 77 something? [10:45] What's his name? [10:46] Timber Wolf? [10:47] Timber Wolf 77. [10:48] He brought up to me, he's actually the lighting designer at, at quit. [10:55] He brought up to me that he wanted to start a bank [10:58] So he wanted a player run bank where people could get loans [11:05] Get I guess loans would really be the only thing. I mean they'd come in they put loans down [11:11] Yeah, if we had like some kind of like [11:14] Taxes or something they could like store their money with them so that they wouldn't get taxed, but we don't have that so no [11:20] Yeah, I mean that I don't think that matters. Yeah. Yeah, they could know did like green like in the sorority [11:24] I don't think they would store money right now like a like a 1% tax or something every day [11:28] I think I won't say no we don't and no no in the server [11:31] I used to be oh we're talking about we yeah we did and and so like people are online [11:37] What is that every day you're online? [11:39] It was just every day. It was it was just adopted. It was like a 1% tax or something and [11:45] I know it might have been lower. I'm horrible, but like there was a tax and let's keep government small and so like people [11:51] People would just like start banks and people would store their money with other players. [11:57] Wait, do these banks have a way to get around the taxes? [12:00] I don't, I'm not sure. [12:03] How's that one? [12:04] Well, I feel like if they didn't, then they'd be kind of useless, wouldn't it? [12:08] Right. [12:09] Huh. [12:10] Anyway. [12:11] I don't know a lot about that, sir. [12:12] So, I mean, how do you feel about people, you know, users being able to, we'd have [12:18] to find a plugin that would allow users to do this, so that they could take collateral [12:25] and start up a bank and start giving out loans to people who want to start up stores or... [12:32] I don't see why we need a plugin for that. [12:35] People are doing with Google Docs. [12:37] Yeah, right. [12:38] Yeah, right. [12:39] Like, I've been encouraging loan sharks for weeks now. [12:45] Like I want people to... [12:47] PVP turned off how would a loan shark higher corrupt moderators? [12:52] Uh-huh. They hire moderate shake people down. How would which moderator would this be me? Oh my gosh [12:58] Yeah, took me three months to figure out how to get a rail station in Leoville [13:04] Because and you were so worried about what I would do with that. Yeah [13:08] Bought me out then then that uh that would have been easier for you, huh? [13:12] Maybe I know now I know for the future. Yeah, all I need to do [13:17] Is you I can be bought people diamond blocks. How many diamond blocks would it take for me to? [13:24] Get what would I want? Um at the center of corruption one? [13:32] What what I want what do I want I want [13:37] Everyone that when they log into the server next to have five cats that are theirs [13:44] Well first off [13:45] Well, you'd have to buy me out and then I would have to convince curly because here's the thing is um [13:51] Let's assume that curly curly agrees curly. We and curly have a pack and whatever I asked well, then what am I here for? [13:59] Because you're our fellow moderator. You're okay. Okay, so it's a run through your ready [14:03] You want this and curly wants it as well, but it needs to be run by me right exactly which never happens by the way [14:10] What's your price? [14:11] Well, yeah, like well, no Curly's okay with it and I actively express [14:15] Are you kidding me? Are you joking because I meet and curly both wanted [14:20] That's cuz I actively expressed disapproval for it [14:22] Well, would you like like if I'm just like not brought into the conversation at all then like you guys wouldn't care [14:29] You guys just do it and like not tell me [14:31] No, yeah, you did you that's why players get $300 when they spawn and not 30 I [14:38] Was not brought into that conversation at all [14:41] Well you made a bad point [14:46] And you have a problem with that no I don't know not anymore oh [14:51] Well we gave everyone $300 [14:53] Did we did we ever get around to that? Yeah, we did we updated the the SQL database whatever I don't care anymore. Oh [14:59] I'm over it. I'm over it Chad. I'm over it. You sound like it. I'm over it Chad [15:04] So okay, so I guess just play run banks can just be run by the players [15:07] I don't need I don't see why that why we need a plug-in for that [15:10] I mean chickens already running his rent service through a Google Doc. I mean it can be done [15:14] It's just a matter of the players have to take initiative to do it [15:19] But that is a good question [15:23] Answer the question of how many diamond blocks would it take to get five cats for every player? Oh man, so many [15:29] so many. I already had that idea and I'm already going to start arguing with it with you about [15:33] it. [15:34] But listen, everyone loves pets. And I think it would explain to me why players need five [15:39] cats because creeper protection. Right. Creeper protection. Okay. When they're out in the [15:44] wild wild wilderness and then also people we there's there have been studies show that [15:50] when people have pets, it's sticky and they stick to the server for longer. So if we [15:56] We just give them one pet, that's not enough. [15:59] We want extra stickiness, so we're gonna give them five. [16:02] Right, okay, okay. [16:03] And they can name them- I get the extra stickiness thing. [16:05] We can, okay, you know what? [16:06] I'll get to your extra stickiness here in a second, okay? [16:09] But first off, creeper protection, really? [16:12] That's your deal? [16:13] That's your deal, it's creeper protection. [16:14] Oh yeah. [16:15] We're a freaking, we're a survival server, Chad. [16:18] Yeah, a survival server. [16:19] But too many people die and they're leaving the server [16:22] because of it. [16:23] I have a great idea. [16:23] Let's give people gold boots that allow them [16:24] to fly everywhere. [16:26] We did that before. [16:27] Hey, how about we just turn off hunger on the server? [16:29] Let's turn off hunger, Seth. [16:30] Let's do that, because... [16:31] Let's take my gold... [16:32] How many... [16:33] ...lie to 32,000 to find snow? [16:34] Wait, how about... [16:35] Okay, how many diamond blocks would it take to turn off hunger? [16:38] How corrupt are you? [16:40] You don't seem that corrupt to me. [16:42] There is no mount. [16:43] Yeah, you seem like a goody two-shoes to me. [16:47] No, no. [16:48] You know what? [16:49] You seem like a... [16:52] So many... [16:53] Yeah, wow. [16:54] Man, I'm really hurt. [16:55] I'm really hurt that you'd say that oh, okay. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, that hurts. Okay. Okay [17:03] So we found out that your corruption level is actually zero not really no, you know what? [17:08] I'm it's I didn't say I didn't say I wouldn't do the cat thing [17:11] I'm saying it's not it's not likely right off the top. Okay. All right. I'm saying it's gonna take a lot of damn blocks [17:18] By the way, did you notice that? [17:20] Cheeto started a [17:22] Scavenger hunt in leoville today. Oh, did he really yeah, he bought he bought a whole bunch of blocks from drew was it drew? [17:30] Mm-hmm and wasn't bought and he hid them around the leoville [17:37] Well people can't mind them if they're in leoville [17:39] I know I mean he's a mod so he just said that you know scavenger hunt is go and then when they found it [17:45] He'd hand them a block [17:47] Okay, yeah, people actually found oh my god. It was it was insane with people [17:52] I even joined in and I don't need that box [17:54] Like I joined in and they yeah, I was about say and he bought them from you, but he didn't yeah [18:01] Anyway, it was a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun [18:04] So you wanted to bring up something with portals [18:07] Right. Okay. Um, so we talked a couple weeks ago about Stargates [18:13] About I am stuck. Hold on. I'm playing minecraft right now while we're [18:17] Professional and by the way, I don't know if I love the Stargate idea. Oh [18:22] Oh, this might change your mind [18:25] Okay [18:27] Shargot Shroomer I've been kicked [18:36] Okay, no, but the idea was um, so so the the [18:40] original idea for Stargates what would be um, we would have we have a stargate system that goes only between [18:46] cities and cities would be [18:48] The towns, the players start, anybody can start a town and if that town eventually gets [18:53] to the point where it meets certain requirements of residents and buildings and certain structures [18:59] that we need to have and what not, then it would be upgraded to a city. [19:05] And the cities would have perks such as a stargate network connected only between cities. [19:12] They would have a sub-forum in the towns forum. [19:17] A few things like that. [19:20] A few other things that we, you know, [19:23] the towns would be given in era cities would be given in ATM, [19:27] things like that, you know, once we get that working. [19:31] And was it, who was it? [19:34] NGT, was it? [19:36] No. [19:37] No, it was me. [19:37] Terri, I'm sorry. [19:40] Had the idea earlier when we were talking [19:43] of the idea of instead of, [19:45] Instead of just having Stargates be available by upgrading to a city, by having some way [19:52] to buy a Stargate for your town without having to meet other requirements. [20:00] And the advantage of that would be a place like Stonerun would be the example we were [20:06] talking about earlier. [20:07] Stonerun is a huge city. [20:10] It's not huge. [20:11] It's a huge start of a city. [20:14] me out in the middle of absolute nowhere. It's like it's a good like five to seven minute [20:22] minecart ride from anywhere close to spawn. So it doesn't have a lot of residents and [20:30] it doesn't have a lot of traffic even though it's huge and awesome. And you know something [20:35] like a Stargate, if, if, if Stoneman was able to buy a Stargate, they could, uh, yeah, that [20:46] could attract more people to their town to get more residents and more buildings and [20:50] whatnot. Right. So the idea was that we could, uh, would we be selling a Stargate? Right. [20:56] So it would be, it would probably have to be crazy expensive, but the idea of being [21:01] able to buy a Stargate basically. [21:05] Just something that would give them the option to grow their city in that way versus organic [21:09] growth because that's going to be harder because there's not really a huge draw to go there. [21:14] But if they have a Stargate, because that person that runs the town puts in the time [21:19] and effort to farm the money to pay for it, they could use that as a draw to get people [21:23] to actually come out there and build their city. [21:26] I like the capitalist aspect of, you know, I want to for like, I want the better experience [21:33] of having the city. [21:35] So I'm just going to spend money to have a Stargate placed in it. [21:39] But I mean, I like this idea. [21:43] I don't know. [21:44] But I mean, part of my argument, if I'm playing devil's advocate, my argument would be like, [21:47] well, why don't Sky five did it without. [21:50] And I think that is there another one? [21:52] It's a lot closer. [21:53] Right. [21:54] maybe a thousand blocks from spawn, probably not even that, [21:59] maybe like 500. [22:00] Stonerun is a good couple thousand blocks away. [22:05] It's a very long ways away. [22:07] So it won't have that natural growth. [22:10] If people were going to use that place, [22:12] they would have to set their spawn there [22:14] and they'd have to completely move everything. [22:17] It'd be like going to a different state. [22:18] Or take a mine cart, the five minute mine cart ride [22:21] over there at the time. [22:22] Right, right. [22:24] Right. I guess, uh, yeah, my, my, my first argument was going to be that I don't [22:28] think we should just use stargates at all. I like, I like the vanilla-ness of [22:33] mine carts, but if this server is going to grow, we really need some sort of [22:37] transportation further off, you know, quicker transportation, like mine carts [22:42] are great and everything, but you know, going all the way across the, the [22:47] 5000 by 5000 map on a minecart takes a long time. [22:53] Yeah. [22:54] Yeah. [22:54] I took a minecart to get to my mining area that I've set for home and it took so long [23:02] and hitting every station along the way. [23:05] It was like, and every station is a little bit different. [23:09] It was difficult. [23:12] I agree. [23:12] I like the idea of having a port at least between certain distances like like you said [23:18] The town it needs to be far enough away to warrant that it need they stargate from another town [23:24] perhaps like if there's Skype like sky 5 is a [23:27] Decent it's a decent amount of blocks away that you might want a portal [23:31] But it doesn't necessarily need one because the rail system isn't as long between legal villains guy five [23:37] Well, let's say let's say you know spawn spawn is our anchor point. Maybe we can have a tiered system where? [23:44] You know a thousand five hundred blocks from spawn it costs so much [23:49] from a thousand five hundred to [23:51] Four thousand cost so much how big is our world ten thousand five thousand by five thousand so yeah, okay [23:58] So yeah, we're getting to the edge there [24:01] then [24:02] Hmm. I mean that makes sense to me too, or just be a flat fee and not have to figure all that stuff out [24:10] Yeah, the flat fee. I mean to me is is I feel like a good way to go [24:13] I feel like a fat flat fee would be it's fair easier because and more fair because it's hard to measure distance away from [24:21] Yeah, right, right. I like this idea and [24:25] Because yeah, I like it [24:28] Alternatively [24:30] We could just have I like the idea first off. I like the idea of stargates. They go straight between cities [24:38] But so this would be a sub a sub stargate system, right? No [24:42] No, well this this would be this would be the same thing [24:44] It was just if if people could be you know could buy their way onto that list of city stargates [24:50] So what you're saying is but if this if the city [24:54] Meets all the requirements. They don't have to pay but if they right [24:57] But if they don't and they just want a Stargate before they get to a city then they can buy their way into one [25:04] And you can make like 20 grand or something. So it's a significant investment. Yeah, right [25:09] and [25:10] But but what if what if we went another route of? [25:14] having [25:16] Having a Stargate system that just goes like [25:20] 3,000 blocks away from spawn like to Northeast West the south and west [25:24] So it would have four locations like the middle of nowhere in the north, middle of nowhere [25:28] in the east, middle of nowhere in the south, middle of nowhere in the west. [25:31] That's just going to create a city around it. [25:34] Right. [25:35] Well, but that way people could feasibly make rail systems that... [25:40] I don't like that idea. [25:43] To get to Stonewrun or whatever, you take the portal to northern wilderness and then [25:50] you take the railroad right there and it's only like a minute long thing. [25:53] Let me make sure I understand. [25:54] So you're saying instead of buying into the Stargate system, we have these four Stargates. [25:59] Right. [26:00] Well, I would bring that up to whoever runs the city that wants to Stargate. [26:09] If you go to a certain point though and stop it there and just drop it in the middle of [26:13] literally whatever is there or nowhere, that's going to assign added value to that position. [26:18] Absolutely. [26:19] Now it's better than some of the outer lying areas even around spawn because it's less [26:24] of a walk. [26:25] Absolutely. [26:26] Yeah, absolutely. [26:27] Yeah, I mean, I noticed that the second that you said that James, but I don't know. [26:31] I can't decide if that's a bad thing or a good thing. [26:34] Part of the reason that I like the other idea, having them in cities better is because it's [26:40] simpler because you're just going to go straight to the city that you want. [26:44] They can create a nice spawn point around it. [26:49] I also like the you could be a little bit more [26:52] entrepreneurial with the four other stargates and [26:56] And everyone knows what north you know east west south [27:00] stargates would mean [27:02] Or you know conceptually have in their mind um [27:06] Yeah, I think I think probably keeping it within certain like specific locations is probably a better idea than the northeast southwest thing [27:13] Yeah, like being able to [27:15] You know either either get it for being a city or by your way on to it [27:18] I would argue that fewer stargates is gonna be better and I think the city idea is [27:24] The best way to pull that off [27:27] Yeah, I agree [27:30] Yeah anything else from from the town hall [27:36] guess not [27:38] Now [27:39] Curly had written in a whole bunch of stuff to talk about in topic 2. Do you want to cover any of this? Not really? [27:45] Okay, do you want to talk about the server you've been working on? [27:52] Which server the paintball server? Oh, yeah. Yeah, so so [27:57] Earlier earlier in the week curly threw up a paintball server by request of [28:03] several several twitcraft kids [28:06] So all day today, which is Tuesday [28:09] We were we were even playing wait. No, sorry. It's Monday [28:12] We've been playing on it, we built a nice little arena. [28:16] We've had a lot of fun. [28:17] I don't know, I like to do more stuff like that, more kind of smaller events and all [28:23] that. [28:24] Will this be open for all of... what's the general idea for this? [28:28] Anyone? [28:29] I don't know how long... yeah, it's a mod. [28:31] You can go in the forums in the mod section, there's instructions on how to install the [28:35] mod. [28:36] It's the singular mod that's placed in that section. [28:38] Yeah, it's the only thread in there. [28:41] Yeah, it's I don't know. Yeah, like I don't know how long it's gonna stay up. Maybe maybe a few days [28:44] Probably until people get bored of it [28:48] So, yeah, okay, so so anyone can join in anyone I mean [28:59] Sprocks [29:02] for whitelisting [29:03] Yeah [29:05] Yeah, it seems like there should be a forum post just about that server if I don't know if we are [29:11] And then also there should be I don't know. I feel like there should be event an event around it [29:18] Because we were helping we're you know, we're facilitating creating the world but really we're [29:26] Yeah [29:29] Okay, it'd be typical to make an event out of it [29:31] You just just say we're gonna be doing this at this time on this day [29:35] I want to show up show up if you don't don't if you need help getting your stuff set up [29:39] There are people that are around that know what they're doing, right? [29:42] Right, that's what yeah, that's yeah that I mean not a not an event [29:45] We're like prizes you or anything, but yeah that sort of thing where we just say hey give away money and game, right? [29:51] That'd be fun [29:52] Do the winning team? Yeah. Yeah sure why not? [29:56] Of course the winning team would be the mods that that would get more people to participate [30:00] Potentially if you're giving away money in the game instead of just making it so that people are just oh do you want to play? [30:06] Well, no because it's difficult. Well, I'll just stay here in mind, right? Exactly. Right? [30:14] We could do that and if it's and who knows if by the time this podcast goes up the server all you can still be up [30:21] But yeah, and we'll see. Yeah, it's it's it's been a lot of fun [30:26] I'd like to do more stuff like it [30:28] Wonderful. That's all that I have to talk about. [30:33] Let's talk about something. [30:34] Is there anything else? [30:35] I want to talk about walls. [30:36] Walls. [30:37] Oh, holy crap. Yeah. [30:38] Were you in here earlier, Chad, when we were talking about the walls? [30:41] The map? [30:42] Yeah. [30:43] I don't believe I was. [30:45] Yeah, it's already brought up. [30:47] There's a map called the walls that I recently came out, which some of the mods played on. [30:55] That was my multiplayer pick. [30:59] I still demand a rematch on that. [31:02] Yeah, I know. [31:03] You suffocated in a wall both times. [31:06] I know. [31:08] Don't judge me. [31:09] I'll judge you as much as I want. [31:11] You suffocated in gravel twice in a PvP map. [31:15] The second time was on purpose. [31:17] There's 15 minutes. [31:18] I know. [31:19] I was suffocating in gravel. [31:20] Okay, calm. [31:21] So let's explain a little bit of what this map is. [31:24] Each player is given a two by two chunk area to start with. [31:28] There are four of these playable areas around the map and they're divided through, not on [31:36] each side, but when you look at the map it's a square and in the middle of the square there's [31:41] an X and that X is a really tall wall. [31:45] And that makes sure that the players who are in their two by two chunk can't. [31:49] And all four areas are, they're all the same. [31:53] They're all the same. They're all here. [31:54] And so you start off in the corner. [31:56] And then when the levers push you up into the map, [32:01] a 15 minute timer starts. [32:03] And you have 15 minutes to use that area [32:08] to gather materials, weapons, harvest, or mine around [32:13] to get as much as you can. [32:14] There's also secret chests hidden around [32:17] if you can find them fast enough, get food, [32:20] that sort of thing. [32:21] And then after the 15 minutes are up, the walls fall, the sand, their sand walls. [32:27] So pistons let all the walls fall down and then each chunk or each, each area can now [32:34] go into the other area. [32:36] So we played with eight, no, yeah, we played with eight people. [32:40] So two, two people per area. [32:43] And then when the walls fell, you know, you run over and cause your PVP mayhem. [32:48] So what were you talking about this map for? [32:51] Oh no, like Terryage brought it up and he was like we were talking about uh talking about some stuff [32:56] and [32:57] And he brought it up and what sort of stuff not not not stuff not podcast stuff [33:04] stuff [33:06] We're talking about some stuff and [33:09] Very cagey we [33:12] And he brought it up and is the idea we're talking about some of the experience we had and we had a lot of fun on it [33:18] No, you uh [33:19] So, okay, so it's just a fun map. [33:23] It's just a fun map. [33:24] Do we need to, are we gonna put this up? [33:27] No, no, no, like it'd be fun. [33:28] It'd be fun to do a Twitter craft event on it. [33:29] And that's what I was thinking. [33:30] Maybe, maybe, I think, the Wallace Tournament. [33:31] I think if we want to do something like that, you could have, you know, since you're doing [33:36] teams, you could have each team throw in like, say, 100 coins per person and have a big [33:42] bounty on the end of it and make it worthwhile. [33:45] If we do it, I suggest that we edit the map a bit. [33:48] There's a few things I'm... [33:49] I don't like about this map. [33:51] One being that when the walls fall, your client will lag out. [33:55] Yeah, yeah. If you don't have an amazing computer [33:58] and are sitting right next to the server... [34:01] Yeah, I even had a modern client that had 4 GB of memory allocated to Minecraft [34:07] and it still crashed my client. [34:10] So I think we need to do that. [34:11] I also think that the holding pins should be bigger. [34:14] Instead of just a one cube, it should be, you know, it could easily be a six, [34:20] six by six and the entire team in there. [34:23] I mean, there's no reason not to. [34:24] And then also there needs to be some rail system to get you to your area. [34:30] And there needs to be a lobby. [34:31] And then you could also go back and just make our own look. [34:34] I mean, seriously, there's so many things that I want to change about that map [34:38] that it's not even funny. [34:39] And also if you were playing with people who have played before, [34:43] They are gonna know where the chests are with all the good stuff [34:48] So I wish that they would just remove the the chest randomized or randomize them somehow [34:55] Yeah, so so there's a few things I dislike about that map that I'd want to change [34:59] But that's going just conjecture and just taking the chest out [35:02] I think would be better anyway, we're just going off of straight knowing what to do how to build your [35:08] You know our side so that you can take on or defend against the other people [35:13] I actually downloaded the map a couple days ago and just looked around and single-player and [35:19] pretty much there are really only a [35:22] couple chests hidden chests and most people found all of them when a [35:27] Bunch of the mods played like a couple weeks ago. I never found [35:31] I believe there's a chest with like apples in it golden apples. No [35:36] From what I know there's like if you don't mind me spoiling every chest [35:39] I mean, yeah, if you're gonna play you should might as well know everyone should be on the same ground [35:46] There's a chest with just TNT. It's like four then one with fire charges [35:51] One with cobwebs one with a couple TNT and then one [35:56] You find right off the bat and that's about it. You're out. Yeah [36:01] Okay [36:03] There was one that had armor in it, but I guess I'm remembering incorrectly [36:07] correctly no not that I know of huh huh okay I just want to say that my team won [36:14] both games that we played yeah and I've reached quit the second time we played [36:18] hmm is my client crashed and I felt like curly used that like he was like well [36:25] when the walls fall jazz gonna crash out so let's go really you think Curly's [36:30] curly thought ahead that far he's died well at least Jessica did do you not [36:34] Remember when curly said he was sitting back drinking his whiskey watching the wall fall [36:40] Yeah, no, I mean the yes, I that that's what I felt like we're not we're not gonna get into it [36:47] But yeah, yeah, I mean I raised crit cuz I was mad and I'm still mad obviously [36:52] Well, that's if anything else that anyone wants to bring up. I guess that's the end of the show [37:02] Thanks for listening. Wait, let's talk about dinosaurs. We don't have enough time [37:07] We actually don't. [37:08] Yeah, it's my bedtime, isn't it? [37:10] Yeah. [37:11] You said that you had to go. [37:12] Next week. [37:13] Next week we will have a special... [37:15] Sorry for such a short episode too. [37:16] It hasn't been very long. [37:17] But uh, same as Curly's not here and this isn't a real episode. [37:20] This isn't a real episode. [37:22] Sure it is, buddy. [37:23] What do you mean it's not a real episode? [37:25] If it makes you feel better then this is a real episode. [37:27] You're insane. [37:28] We did everything that we normally do just without Curly. [37:31] Okay, if that's what makes you feel better. [37:34] It does make me feel better. [37:36] Okay. [37:37] Anyway, that's it. [37:40] So thanks for listening.
